Were you ever lured by enticing titles prominently displayed on the canopy of an old 1970’s/80’s town centre cinema? Did you seek out the obscure talented director, the often less talented star? Did the promises of an amazing poster compel you to enter the cinema? Most of these ‘Grindhouses’ have gone but the memory of seeing mad scientists, zombies, monsters, cops, robbers, cannibals and general ‘B’ grade movie fayre with a like minded audience will stick with you for good...

March 2018. The night the Chatterer came to Bournemouth! We were delighted to welcome Nicholas Burman-Vince for our sold out 35mm screening of Clive Barker’s HELLRAISER.
We were treated to fascinating facts about the films production with further questions from the dedicated audience moderated once again by our very own Shaun Kimber.

A night to remember!

This was a huge challenge but we managed to source original 35mm prints for the entire season.

One of the things we miss most during lockdown isn’t just the fact we can’t screen films at our beloved Official Shelley Theatre, we’ve missed personally welcoming YOU, our loyal fans; some of who have supported us since our first event.

The simple ritual of everyone signing our event poster and mingling in the bar area and sampling a drink in readiness for the excitement ahead is sorely missed.

Whatever happens, we’ll be back when it is safe to do so. Until then we’ll raise a glass to all of you!

Friday 13th Pt 3D - Ever wondered what a 35mm 3D film print looks like? The Left/Right eye images are stacked on top of each other separated by the thick black rack line.
Both images are converged through a polarised filter in the projection lens onto a silver screen.
Polarised glasses are then used to reproduce the 3D image.

5 years ago today we held our very first 35mm screening at The Official Shelley Theatre.
We’re incredibly honoured to have been part of the theatres journey from the beginning. The newly built entrance area and bar had just been built, there were no windows, heating was minimal but we knew it was going to be something special. The team showed dedication, passion and had a vision.
So much has changed since, including our own technical upgrades, but primarily the theatre has evolved into a key community venue which is sorely missed by us during these difficult times.
We can’t wait to be back and see you all again very soon.

Keep safe everyone

Xx

Hello! If anybody wants to check out the Samurai Slasher Kickstarter then here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1668205146/samurai-slasher-part-3-the-final-chapter Thanks again to the guys at Dirt In The Gate Movies for another awesome movie night!
Awesome time yesterday at Grindfest, could only catch two movies, the surprise one Anguish (Augustia) and Hatchet which I thoroughly enjoyed as I hadn’t seen either of them. Also the infomercial before Hatchet, was Mastodon, doubly cool! Can’t wait for Friday the 13th and after that The Shining! Keep up the good work!
What a fabulous day watching movies at the Shelley. Great day, great event. Looking forward to the next one.
