Dirt In The Gate Movies Bringing Genre Movies To The Big Screen!

Were you ever lured by enticing titles prominently displayed on the canopy of an old 1970’s/80’s town centre cinema? Did you seek out the obscure talented director, the often less talented star? Did the promises of an amazing poster compel you to enter the cinema? Most of these ‘Grindhouses’ have gone but the memory of seeing mad scientists, zombies, monsters, cops, robbers, cannibals and general ‘B’ grade movie fayre with a like minded audience will stick with you for good...

On the recent birthday of the late great #TobeHooper let's not forget one of his most genius creative choices.

Exploiting our hometown's long-gone model village at #Tucktonia for budget-conscious scenery in #Lifeforce!

It was full house for our final screening of the year. So many of you mentioned it was the first time you’d seen ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ so we’re delighted you were able to do so from a beautiful 35mm print.
2019 has been a very special year for DITGM, having the pleasure of screening 24 features ranging from an original 1957 IB Technicolor print to two new releases on 35mm film. We’ve loved every frame that’s flickered its way onto the screen to entertain YOU, our much valued fans that have supported each event.
Thank you again to the hard working management, staff and volunteers at The Official Shelley Theatre for their ongoing boundless support for what we do.
2020 is shaping up to be one of our best years yet, keep an eye open for GRINDFEST updates, it will be AMAZING.

Happy holiday season and will raise a glass to everyone for a happy, healthy 2020.

Much love,

DITG crew

We are thrilled to welcome Kate Egan to introduce our 35mm screening of Life Of Brian next Friday!

Kate Egan is from Aberystwyth University, Wales, and is the author of Trash or Treasure? Censorship and the Changing Meanings of the Video Nasties (2007), Cultographies: The Evil Dead (2011), and (with Martin Barker, Tom Phillips and Sarah Ralph) Alien Audiences (2015).

She is also co-editor (with Sarah Thomas) of Cult Film Stardom (2012) and (with Jeffrey Weinstock) And Now For Something Completely Different: Critical Approaches to Monty Python (forthcoming).

As well as making a film about Dirt in the Gate and its audiences, she is currently conducting research on the local censorship of Monty Python's Life of Brian throughout the UK in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and is writing a monograph based on an international audience project on audience memories of Monty Python.

Hello! If anybody wants to check out the Samurai Slasher Kickstarter then here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1668205146/samurai-slasher-part-3-the-final-chapter Thanks again to the guys at Dirt In The Gate Movies for another awesome movie night!
Awesome time yesterday at Grindfest, could only catch two movies, the surprise one Anguish (Augustia) and Hatchet which I thoroughly enjoyed as I hadn’t seen either of them. Also the infomercial before Hatchet, was Mastodon, doubly cool! Can’t wait for Friday the 13th and after that The Shining! Keep up the good work!
What a fabulous day watching movies at the Shelley. Great day, great event. Looking forward to the next one.
