Dirt In The Gate Movies

Dirt In The Gate Movies 35mm Film Exhibitors based at The Historic Mary Shelley Theatre in Bournemouth, UK. #filmlivesinbournemouth Were you ever lured by enticing titles prominently displayed on the canopy of an old 1970’s/80’s town centre cinema?

Did you seek out the obscure talented director, the often less talented star? Did the promises of an amazing poster compel you to enter the cinema? Most of these ‘Grindhouses’ have gone but the memory of seeing mad scientists, zombies, monsters, cops, robbers, cannibals and general ‘B’ grade movie fayre with a like minded audience will stick with you for good...

In a parallel dimension, where a dude wasn't sneezed on by another dude who ate a bat bitten by a monkey, we'd be kicking off our second day of GRINDFEST at The Official Shelley Theatre Today!

Our 4th annual 35mm Festival of film would have included; REPO MAN, Child's Play, THE FLY, CREEPSHOW 2, Near Dark & much more!

15/09/2020

Just another reminder that this weekend’s 35mm GRINDFEST has sadly been cancelled. Please be patient while theatre management work their way through ticket holders for refund options.

GRINDFEST will return bigger and better than ever, that’s a promise!

Sean Young filmed the making of Dune with David Lynch 1983

David Lynch doesn’t talk much about his 1984 Sci-Fi epic DUNE and considers it his only failure. Here’s Sean Young capturing some behind the scenes shenanigans during production using a Super 8 film camera.

**GRINDFEST 2020 UPDATE**
Our team at DITG spend a huge amount of time and effort to source rare and unique original 35mm film prints to Bournemouth’s fabulous The Official Shelley Theatre that you’ll be hard pushed to find anywhere else.

GRINDFEST is a celebration of film which has developed into a much loved event by our loyal fans and exceeded all our expectations into how much it is cherished.

2020 has been, and still is challenging for everyone. We’ve loved the way however that creativity has shone through with some superb on-line and web based content to reach out and keep people entertained and connected during a very difficult time.

Our approach has always been focused on community engagement but more importantly, a shared experience amongst like minded people in the darkness of a beautiful, historic auditorium. There is no comparison.

Therefore, it is with great sadness to report that this years GRINDFEST event in September has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid 19 restrictions.
Please be patient while the Theatre contacts you directly if you have already purchased your two day pass or individual tickets.

One thing is for certain. We will be back. And will bring you some of the most amazing celluloid events to feast your eyes on.

Keep on keeping safe and keep an eye out for further updates.

Much love,

DITG crew

Hello! If anybody wants to check out the Samurai Slasher Kickstarter then here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1668205146/samurai-slasher-part-3-the-final-chapter Thanks again to the guys at Dirt In The Gate Movies for another awesome movie night!
Awesome time yesterday at Grindfest, could only catch two movies, the surprise one Anguish (Augustia) and Hatchet which I thoroughly enjoyed as I hadn’t seen either of them. Also the infomercial before Hatchet, was Mastodon, doubly cool! Can’t wait for Friday the 13th and after that The Shining! Keep up the good work!
What a fabulous day watching movies at the Shelley. Great day, great event. Looking forward to the next one.
