The The Braid Arts Centre recently hosted Cullybackey-born BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker Alison Millar for a wonderful evening of culture and creativity, framed through the lens of an Ulster-Scots community and a Co Antrim village.
Mayor Thomas Gordon, historians and teachers – including renowned local writer Anne McMaster – were among those who attended the evening.
The event, presented by the Braid Film Theatre and the Museum and Arts department, began with pupils from Buick Memorial Primary School in Cullybackey reading poems that were written by children 100 years ago.
A screening of Alison’s BBC documentary highlighting the historic and cultural heritage of our Borough followed, including a Q&A session, with audience members praising the film and the focus it has given to homegrown talent.
The Museum also displayed historical artefacts that were featured in the documentary, including poems and drawings.
