Cinema, Culture and Society is a group of university lecturers and graduate students based at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. We are committed to the academic research of film as a cultural phenomenon. We are based in an English Department; therefore our main focus is on films from English-speaking countries, although we also recognize the limitations of national labels in contemporary cinema. The group has a long tradition of research in the field of film genre but in recent years we have expanded our interests to the impact of globalization, transnationalism, border theory and border culture, and the cosmopolitan imagination in the cinema. We welcome exchanges with other groups or individual scholars working on similar or related fields. We would like to encourage other scholars and teachers, students and film fans to participate in our webpage and to help us make it a lively forum for the exchange of ideas and opinions on filmic matters.
