Ortofon

Rutevejledning Website

Ortofon Premium phono cartridge manufacturer, dedicated to delivering accurate sound for over a century.

Ortofon is an analog audio products manufacturer, stared in 1918, responsible for many innovations in the analog field. Prior to being called Ortofon, the company was called Fonofilms A/S, and developed technology for synchronized movie soundtracks to the then-silent movies of the early 1920s. In the 1940s, Ortofon changed vinyl recordings forever by developing a cutting head capable of true HiFi sound reproduction. Shortly thereafter, they developed the first Moving Coil cartridges which were capable of reproducing a full frequency range from these new recordings. Fast forward to modern day, Ortofon has developed hundreds of models of phonograph cartridges for every different application and is still the largest cartridge manufacturer in the world.

Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

High End Vienna 2026 marked a special milestone in Ortofon's history as we unveiled MC Vertex – the most ambitious cartridge creation in our 100-year history – and introduced MC X50, the newest addition to the MC X Series.

Over the course of the exhibition, we welcomed partners, distributors, journalists, industry colleagues, and music enthusiasts from around the world. Together, we listened, exchanged perspectives, explored new products, and celebrated a shared commitment to analogue sound.

Because beyond the engineering, measurements, and materials, it has always been about the music. The moments it creates, the emotions it evokes, and the experiences it allows us to share.

To everyone who visited our booth, attended our launch event, listened with us, and shared in our excitement: thank you.

Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

The Vertex Diamond.

At the core of MC Vertex is a newly developed diamond, engineered by Ortofon and defined by an advanced line contact geometry developed for highly precise interaction with the record groove.

With a scanning radius of 4 µm and an extended contact radius of 110 µm, the Vertex diamond is designed to trace fine groove structures with exceptional accuracy while maintaining stable mechanical behavior.

The diamond is mounted into a solid diamond cantilever, forming a highly rigid and lightweight structure that ensures efficient energy transfer and controlled mechanical behavior.

The result is exceptional retrieval of low-level detail, improved spatial definition, and a highly precise presentation of recorded music.
