FLASHBACK TO FIFO 2025!

While our call remains open, let’s take a look back at our last edition.

The five days of our festival offered an extensive schedule, including our main program, our students’ platform, an exhibition, and other special events.

In cooperation with Tashkent Film School, Ateliers Varan, and Conflictorium, we continued our JUNCTION program, screening films simultaneously across multiple locations: Tashkent, Ahmedabad, Raipur, and Freiburg! This enabled us to engage with film enthusiasts across the globe. Once again, Kommunales Kino Freiburg provided the lovely space in Freiburg.

You can submit to our call until September 30, 2026. Stay tuned for updates on our next edition!

Hi film friends,

LINES OF PLAY is our special category for this year’s call!

In a world increasingly shaped by spectacle, algorithmic performance, and manufactured certainties, this year's special focus turns toward play as a critical and creative force. Refusing the binary between seriousness and frivolity, the program calls for films that engage humour, irony, experimentation, improvisation, and subversive imagination as ways of responding to contemporary realities.

Rather than treating play as an escape from politics, these works approach it as a method of inquiry, relation, and intervention. Through absurdity, mischief, speculation, and collective invention, they explore how cinema can challenge dominant narratives, open unexpected connections, and imagine other ways of being together.
