Dear all 🎬✨

we’re excited to share this year’s poster and announce the dates for the upcoming edition.

From May 17 to 31, 2026, FRACTO returns to ACUD in Berlin.

This year’s program brings together international works and curated selections dedicated to experimental cinema, with a focus on Cécile Fontaine.

Highlights include a retrospective of Peter Todd and a focus on Austrian filmmaker Moucle Blackout.

Dóra Maurer (1937–2026)

At FRACTO 2025, we presented a two-part focus on her practice.

Working across film, photography, and drawing, Maurer built her practice through simple procedures — repetition, displacement, sequence — where small changes produce continuous variation.

Her work offers a way of thinking the image as process: something that unfolds, shifts, and never fully settles.

Experimental Film Treasures #1

New in 2026: a long-form section dedicated to landmark works of experimental cinema.

FRACTO inaugurates this format as a space for duration, depth, and the expanded field of avant-garde film.

Two feature-length works.
Two temporal lines intersecting in one shared space.

This section reconsiders continuity in experimental cinema, where history remains a working material rather than a closed chapter.

We are pleased to share an early highlight of FRACTO 2026: a special retrospective dedicated to British filmmaker Peter Todd.

Through a curated selection of his films, the program highlights Todd’s distinctive approach to the visible world — revealing a poetry of the everyday.

KEN JACOBS (1933–2025)

Fearless anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian spirits, Ken and Flo Jacobs were tireless inventors and teachers —constantly reshaping the ways we make, see, and think through images.

Their work remains a reference for how cinema can still invent, question, and transform.
