Same Space. Different Lighting.

Lighting can completely change how a space looks and feels.

In this bathroom, we explored the same design with different layers of lighting, from no additional lighting, to under vanity lighting, overhead lighting and wall sconces.

Each serves a different purpose. Overhead lighting provides general illumination, sconces bring light closer to where you need it, and under vanity lighting adds a softer layer that can be especially useful at night.

It’s a small detail in the overall design of a home, but planning these layers early means lighting can be considered alongside the layout, electrical, millwork and finishes, rather than added as an afterthought.

Same bathroom, very different experience.

This home came together a little differently.

Designed by GNAR using a panelized construction system, the structure was prefabricated off site, then assembled on site by the build team in less than three days.

Panelized construction requires a high level of coordination upfront, but the payoff is a much more efficient build once everything reaches site.

A pretty incredible thing to watch go from drawings, to panels, to a home in just a few days.

The decisions made early in a project have a ripple effect throughout the entire home.

Window placement affects natural light and furniture layouts. Room proportions influence how a space functions. Building systems can impact everything from ceiling heights to where lighting and fixtures can go.

Thinking through these connections early gives the interior design more to work with and helps create a home that feels cohesive from the start.
