The County Towne Players was a popular and entertaining amateur theatre troupe that was founded in 1972 by a small group of people who had a vision to start an organization that recognized and encouraged amateur talent and bring theatrical presentations to Victoria Jubilee Hall. Because of the long and proud tradition of the Jubilee Hall, it was a natural fit. In that inaugural year the founding m
embers were Bill and Marg Shaw, Ralph and Erleen Martin, Doug and Florence Farr and Danny Craig. This committed group of individuals were the driving force behind the first play of Arsenic and Old Lace. The talents of Patty Duggan, John Devlin, Danny Craig, Bill Shaw, RJ Creighton, Gary Bajuarny, Sid Duggan and Marg Shaw were seen by enthusiastic audiences in 4 sold out shows. After the play’s huge success, the County Towne Players was officially born. From those beginnings came many more wonderful shows…Some of you will recall Dandy Lion, God’s Favourite, Ten Little Indians, The Odd Couple, Mark of Cain, Send Me No Flowers, See How They Run, Meanwhile Back on the Couch, Come Blow Your Horn, Play On, Blythe Spirit, Pool’s Paradise, Imaginary Invalid, Christmas Carol, Cemetery Club and Dirty Work at the Crossroads. A small resurrection came in 2006 with the walking play ,Valley Towne Tales, and then the sequel ,Time Travel Interrupted, in 2011. Now we are proud to present another wonderful production “ Run for Your Life” by Philip King. County Town Players provided many additions to Victoria Jubilee Hall. The stationary chairs that were once located under the stage, were changed for more comfortable, permanent chairs . The Lighting, the refinished Stage floor, the dressing rooms, the black curtains, the wiring, the panel box and the original sound system were some of the major donations to the hall. In 2012 County Towne Players enjoys the new lighting and sound that has been updated by Victoria Jubilee Hall. Without the support and expertise of many volunteers, County Towne Players would not be able to continue. We thank those who have helped in any way and encourage others to step forward to join our group.
