✨1981/August 2, 2025 – Looking southwest down Yonge St towards Dundas St and the Eaton Centre in the Downtown Yonge Area of Toronto.

✨The archive photo shows two men looking at cinema posters outside of the Biltmore Theatre, once at 319 Yonge St. Built in 1947/48, the Biltmore was part of the Okun theatre chain and featured 900+ seats, with over 300 on the balcony. The theatre closed in 1983. In 2007, the present-day shopping centre was completed and is currently known as The Tenor at 10 Dundas East.

A very cheap second, third and forth run theatre on Queen west of Bathurst. I think it was like 75 cents when the Rio and Biltmore were $3.50.

✨Circa 1970/April 6, 2025 – Looking northeast along Queen St W towards Bathurst St in the West Queen West and Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhoods of Toronto.

✨According to the 1971 Toronto City Directory, a few of the shops in the archive photo, from left to right, include Lanzarotta Bros Supermarket, Panama Shoe Company, Orpheum Theatre, Mary’s Grocery, Grosman's IDA Drug Store, Browns Bros Market, and the CIBC.

✨The Orpheum operated from the mid-1940s until around 1977. In 1980, it reopened as the Rosemary Theatre. By 1983, it was renamed the Golden Dragon Theatre, which closed in 1987. Today, the former theatre is home to Home Craft Decor and the Toronto Alliance Church.
