Roxy Theatre Revelstoke Vintage theatre, comfortable signature rocker chairs, the BEST popcorn in Revelstoke. We use state-of-the-art digital projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 sound.

BUILT IN 1904 AND OPENED IN FEBRUARY 1905 AS THE LAWERENCE HARDWARE COMPANY AT A COST OF $50,000. THE ORIGINAL HIGH VICTORIAN FACADE WAS ALTERED TO THE CURRENT ART DECO LOOK IN 1937-38 WHEN IT WAS CONVERTED TO A MOVIE THEATRE. In 1938 the new cinema was named the Avolie Theatre, which was the winning name, picked from over 150 entries in a local contest. The name was changed to the Roxy in 1952 by

the new owner, at that time, H.J. Stevenson of Prince George, It has continued as The Roxy Theatre to the present with a brief closing in 1984. Painted graphic ads from the original hardware store can still be seen on the top of the northeast side wall of the building, and in fact the two side walls and the back wall are original walls from the 1905 Lawrence Hardware Store, as is the original stone walled full basement.

From acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson, director of BlackBerry and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, comes TONY, a new A24 biographical film exploring a formative chapter in the life of Anthony Bourdain.

Rather than attempting to tell Bourdain’s entire life story, TONY takes us back to the summer of 1975, focusing on one transformative period when a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain worked in a kitchen in Provincetown, Massachusetts — years before Kitchen Confidential, No Reservations and Parts Unknown would make him a cultural icon.

Bourdain became far more than a celebrity chef. His curiosity, humour and willingness to venture beyond the familiar changed the way millions of people thought about food, travel, culture and the people we meet along the way. His influence can still be felt throughout food and travel culture today.

With Johnson’s distinctive filmmaking style and A24 behind it, TONY looks back at the young man before the fame — and at a summer that helped shape the Anthony Bourdain the world would eventually come to know.

The wait is over. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives at the Roxy Theatre this Friday for a 2-week exclusive engagement.

Based on Homer’s legendary epic, The Odyssey follows the long and perilous journey of Odysseus as he battles monsters, gods, and impossible odds on his voyage home after the Trojan War. It’s one of history’s greatest adventure stories, reimagined by the visionary director behind Oppenheimer, Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Inception.

Featuring an all-star cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal, this is one of the most anticipated films of the decade.
