uOttawa Cinema Academica

uOttawa Cinema Academica Activism and Social Consciousness All films are completely free of charge. All films are followed by discussion.

We are an independent film club hosting weekly film screenings on various social, political and economic issues in order to increase social consciousness and spur activism in the community. Initially a Cinema Politica hosted by Denis Rancourt, the club was cancelled by uOttawa administration and then readapted in its current form in 2008. The club was for a time marred in controversy that followed

Rancourt. Today it's simply a film group inviting those with activist sentiments to come and discuss films, events and ideas with one another. Visitors may be advised that all discussions are in an unmoderated open forum where controversial topics are prone to arise. All we expect is that patrons remain respectful and open minded, yet reasonable.
