AMIA-McGill

AMIA-McGill The Association of Moving Image Archivists is a non-profit, international association dedicated to the preservation & use of moving image media.

The Association of Moving Image Archivists’ student chapter at McGill University was established to promote dialogue around key issues of moving image conservation, preservation, and access. AMIA supports public and professional education and fosters cooperation and communication among the individuals and organizations concerned with the acquisition, preservation, description, exhibition & use of

moving image materials. Montreal is widely known as a haven for cinema and film culture. The AMIA student chapter seeks to provide a platform for engagement with critical issues in the moving image archival profession, to provide collaborative training of archival students rooted in professional moving image archival practices, and to foster cooperation and mutual understanding at a broader social level with regards to archival theories and practices.
