Hey there, folks... Well it looks like we'll be hitting the trail next week to start our "Up The Creek Week"! On Wednesday August 19th Vic Close has asked us to represent his Fish Creek Concerts at Calgary's Heritage Park and their Music in the Plaza' Concert Series. Concert starts at 6pm and finishes at 9. On Friday August 21st we head over to our dear friends Jope Langejans and Karen Langejans to play at their beautiful place where they have Creekside Concerts in Priddis...I'm sure you could PM them here if you want more info, or email Jope at [email protected] for tickets and info. We start at 7.
Then, on Saturday afternoon, we'll be heading down to just west of High River to play at another dear friend and fellow musician/rancher's, Pinto Creek Ranch! The concert is from 2-4. Please reach out to Richard at 403-519-4589 for tickets, directions and more info... Bring your lawn chairs as this is like a festivalsetting, only with longhorn cows cheering us on too:)

Then on Sunday, we head home for a day off and to celebrate our Anniversary! Haha, it feels like we just did:) PS... We'd just like to thank Rob Loree again for his wonderful artwork here! Hey there, folks… It’s Craig and Sue here, all the way from Cortes Island in beautiful British Columbia! We are less than a week away from our show with Tim Hus at The Bird Dog and we thought we’d share this wee interview with Tim so you might get to know him a bit better. We are really looking forward to having him and the band at the Bird Dog! There are still some tickets left for Saturday’s show!

We’ll be heading home on Wednesday and hopefully the highways will be open with these crazy wildfires along our route. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected!!!

Hey there, folks... Here's a wee video from our next artist at the Bird Dog. We just plain can't say enough good about Tim Hus... We love his songwriting, his stories, and his amazing sense of humour! I think you'll get a glimpse of all that in this video:) I'll be posting more over the next couple of weeks for you to see.
It is so refreshing to find someone that goes out of their way to sound Canadian, and writes about his love for this big beautiful country that we live in and the people, places, and events that make it up!

Well folks.... It's early morning here at the Bird Dog after a crazy long and very hard couple of weeks repairing the theatre after the flood! This morning, Suzanne Levesque, Teak and I are having coffee and sitting back in the the theatre and listening to some of our favourite music in this wonderful quiet space... This song is by one of my favourite guitar player/producers "John Leventhal" JL's Hymn No 2 off his "Rumble Strip album.
The Mark Parsons show here Thursday night was just wonderful and the folks just loved him and hung off every word he spoke and sang. The band was smokin' with Young and Madeline Bailey! Suzanne and I joined in, but they didn't need us! What a great way to end two crazy weeks of blood sweat and tears for these two cowbillies, and to kick off the Hardisty Rodeo Association's RODEO WEEKEND! Well folks...Suzanne, Teak and I worked our butts off over the past week or so to get the Bird Dog repaired before our show with Mark Parsons tomorrow. We were planning on getting Mike from Bullhead environmental ltd to dig out the side of the theatre in order to seal the foundation with a membrane, but we had to call "Call Before You Dig" to check on any lines, cables or pipes that may be below our side lawn.
Well, it turns out that a nice company ran a fiber-optic cable right up the length of our property and we are not allowed to dig closer than 1.5 meters to it. So that means we can't fix our foundation from the outside... Haha, SO MAYBE THEY SHOULD:)
Anyway, we set to work by making a new cement wall to stop where the water and soil were coming in and then rebuilt the wall to look almost exactly like it did, only built right this time... We never stopped as we knew we had Mark's show coming and somehow we made it!!!
Thanks to Bob Preece for lending me his Ramset concrete gun and to Jan for showing up with food, constantly :) Also thanks to Jamie Lee for showing up in perfect time to help lift the seats back on their bolts... Karen Langejans for giving us the tongue and groove pine to us years ago! I knew we would need it one day:) And lastly, thanks to all the folks that stopped in to help, sent messages asking if we needed help, food, advice... The list goes on and on!!
Now we just came home to Chauvin and we have to learn some of Mark's songs as he's asked us to play with him along with the rest of his band...
We're looking forward to playing with Mark (there's still a couple of tickets left and you can get them on our website, or try your luck at the door) , seeing all of you, and hanging out at the Hardisty Rodeo this weekend! Hey folks… on a brighter note! Here’s the timeline for this years Hardisty Rodeo Weekend!!! But don’t forget Mark Parsons kicks it all off at the Bird Dog Thursday night, July 16th!
AND, Suzanne will be singing O Canada to start the rodeo!!! We can’t wait!!!
