HUB Film Club

HUB Film Club Watch fabulous films with friends and neighbours! See you at the movies! The HUB Film Club is a community cinema here at the HUB in Cowichan Station!

We are an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit community cinema showing new and classic films at the HUB at Cowichan Station. Our aim is to bring people of all ages together over good films and of course, popcorn! Films are screened on the fourth Friday of every month all the year 'round and we invite you to be a part of it, in fact it can't exist without you! Annual membership begins in May of each

year and is just $25 per person. All proceeds go to support the HUB. We will be showing films of excellence both classic and new, Canadian and International, for families and for adults (we have access to new theatrical releases approximately 4 months after their 1st run in professional theatres!). You can become a club member at the door at any film night (cash or cheque accepted) or contact Melanie Watson at [email protected] for more information. You’ll also find lots of info-gold on our page on the HUB at Cowichan Station website: http://cowichanstation.org/hub-film-club/

**If you are planning on coming to see a film, bring a cushion to put on your seat for extra movie-watching comfort! Or bring your own couch...**

Zach Galifianakis is trading Hollywood for harvests in his new Netflix series, This is a Gardening Show. 🌿🥕

Premiering on Earth Day (April 22), the documentary series follows the Hangover star as he tours Vancouver Island, interviewing local farmers and students. Filmed in spots like the Comox Valley, the show blends Zach’s signature sardonic humor with a serious mission: teaching the next generation about food security and climate adaptation. Keep an eye out for a cameo from Brooklyn Elementary and local food advocate Arzeena Hamir!

This month's flic at the Hub Film Club.
Original title: O Agente Secreto

Showing Friday Apr 24th at 7pm (doors and concession open at 6:30pm)

2025/ 14A/ 2hrs 41m
Production: Brazil
In Brazilian Portuguese with English subtitles.

Directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho

One of the most decorated films of 2025!
Set in 1977 Brazil, roughly at the midpoint of a 21-year military dictatorship, “The Secret Agent” is a drama, a satire, an intriguingly laid-back espionage film, and a recreation of a time and place, with expressionistic and surreal flourishes that must be accepted on their own terms.
If you’re willing to bend with the story, “The Secret Agent” will take you places movies rarely go.
