For more than twenty years now the GREAT MOVIE WEDNESDAYS has presented first run, festival quality, must see cinema to audiences in the Quinte region - films that wouldn’t otherwise light up the movie screens in this area. GREAT MOVIE WEDNESDAYS is a not-for-profit organization run by a handful of volunteers on behalf of all film lovers.

We had a blast on Wednesday at our Members Only Season Finale Film and Wrap Party! It turns out that a little wine, a GREAT MOVIE and an after party was just the thing to celebrate the end of our 30th Season! Our final film of the 2025/26 season, Holy Days earned 4.1 out of 5 stars and lots of praise from our audience. Eve says it was "A fun film to end with." and Mel has "Already renewed my membership for next season."

Things lighten up for summer with our last film of the 2025/26 Season and our GREAT MOVIE WEDNESDAY screening of Holy Days. Metacritic says it "…is a feel-good joyride about faith, fierce family vibes, and finding hope where you least expect it. Buckle up!" Yesterday's GREAT MOVIE WEDNESDAY film, The Voice of Hind Rajab earned an audience rating of 4.67 stars. Audience member, Wayne, described it as "Devastating but important."

Next week the Quinte Film Alternative will be screening a movie BFI calls, "an emotionally devastating film that blurs the boundary between resistance and spectacle." The Voice of Hind Rajab has been nominated for several international film awards, an Oscar and was the Grand Jury Prize Winner at the Venice Film Festival. Our GREAT MOVIE WEDNESDAY audience gave 4 stars to our screening of H Is For Hawk yesterday. Audience member, Lois thought the film was "Quietly complex."

This Great Movie Wednesday we will be screening H Is for Hawk, starring The Crown's Clare Foy. No More Workhorse describes it in their review online as "…an impressive adaptation to the screen of a book which was an unlikely but richly deserved success. As a film, it is contemplative and challenging – it is not an easy story, but it is very worthwhile."
