Reekita Nondine Shimu received national award from Honourable Prime Minister yesterday. This fills our hearts with pride and joy. In today's cinema environment, Shimu is a unique actor—a young woman who does not work as a model or present herself to please the male gaze. Having started her career with Tareque Masud, Shimu is an actor through and through. She continues her journey into the craft of cinema with courage, conviction and dignity. Shimu is a proof that great national and international success is possible without catering to the male gaze. Her win is a win for women everywhere fighting to change the phallocentric regime of cinema.

সৈয়দা রুবাইয়াত হোসেন জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার ২০২২ এর সেরা নির্মাতার পুরস্কার বিজয়ী হয়েছেন ‌‘শিমু’ চলচ্চিত্র জন্য। বাংলাদেশে চলচ্চিত্রের একমাত্র রাষ্ট্রীয় ও সর্বোচ্চ পুরস্কার জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার এর ৪৭ বছরের ইতিহাসে কোহিনুর আক্তার সুচন্দা ও সৈয়দা রুবাইয়াত হোসেন শুধু এ দুই নারী নির্মাতাই রাষ্ট্রীয় স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছেন।

জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার ২০২২ এ শিমু চলচ্চিত্রের শিল্পী ও কুশলীদের অর্জনে শিমু পরিবার খুবই আনন্দিত এবং গর্বিত। পুরস্কার অর্জনকারী সবাইকে অভিনন্দন । তাদের কঠোর পরিশ্রমই জাতীয় পর্যায়ের স্বীকৃতি অর্জনে সহায়তা করেছে । আমরা তাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য শুভ কামনা করি।

Hossain’s filmography boldly centers a feminist dissidence that reflects the organizing principles, language, and contemporary movement-organizing of an urban context. The 2019 film released in Bangladesh in March 2022 and is now running in theatres in Japan.

We are extremely excited that শিমু - Made in Bangladesh theatrically released in 15 theaters of Japan, all the way from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

Our Japanese distributor Pandora is headed by women and our Japanese subtitle has been also done by women of Osaka Women's University.

Yesterday Director Rubaiyat Hossain connected virtually and interacted with the Japanese audience.
