17 years of campaigning to have h**p food legalised 10 years ago!

How time flies!
10 years ago we celebrated the work done by our members at NSW Industrial H**p Association, who worked for 17 years to have h**p food legalised. Making submissions, creating meetings, emails, letter campaigns to ministers, seeking legal advice and making more meetings, all because without it, the industry wasn't going to move forward. Congratulations to all the volunteers and everyone involved and in particular Dr Andrew Katelaris & James Vosper as well as someone that worked tirelessly in that time Paul Benhaim ( pictured) who funded a significant campaign over years for food legalisation, we have all benefited from their efforts. 👏

71 Submissions and 3 public hearings- Congratulations to everyone that participated and made an effort. Special mention to the org putting H**p 1st in NSW and for always participating and taking the time to raise awareness NSW Industrial H**p Association 👏 and Carbon Futures for championing h**p carbon potential since2011 which is mentioned as an action item for recognition and IH**p Victoria Inc who gave a compelling presentation at the Victorian hearing.

The recent Senate inquiry has returned a series of recommendations to unlock the industry.

Congratulations to all involved .
The following recommendations relate specifically to H**p Building.

- The committee recommends that the Australian Government support the conducting of formal testing to establish fire ratings for h**p-based construction products.

- The committee recommends that the Australian Government establish a taskforce to formally develop a best practices standardisation process for h**p building materials and recognise h**pcrete in the National Construction Code.

Australian Industrial H**p Alliance.
In relation to governance of the AIHA
-There are legitimate governance questions that the committee refuse to answer with their receipts:
-Are they financial members?
-Are the Constitution and membership rules being applied consistently to everyone?
-Are governance guidelines being applied?
We also question why the committee is encouraging members not to attend the Special General Meeting?

Surely members should be free to hear all viewpoints, ask questions and make their own informed decisions.
Good governance depends on transparency, accountability and the equal application of the Constitution—not selective interpretation.
Members deserve the facts and the opportunity to decide for themselves and are encouraged to attend the SGM tomorrow which is being held under the rules of the NSW Fair Trading ACT and the AIHA Constitution.
