We're tripping down memory lane today - way back to 1986 when The Delltones had Mudgee, and the Theatre, rocking along to catchy tunes as part of their 'Tickled Pink' tour.

Thanks so much to Mark and Irene Woodward for these special souvenirs and happy memories. They are going 'straight to the pool room' or at least the memorabilia display once the Theatre is restored.

What a lovely surprise we received in the mail the other day!

A mystery parcel arrived and when we opened it, we discovered this gorgeous range of Shirley Temple photos. Alan Johnson from Blaxland enjoyed one of our Sticky Beak tours in March this year and thought his Shirley Temple collection would enjoy a new home at the Regent Theatre.

Thanks so much, Alan. Shirley will have pride of place when the Theatre is restored and the doors open again. We really appreciate your support.

If you would like to attend a Sticky Beak session, the last one for this year is this Saturday from 10am - 12pm. It's free and you can book your spot here: https://www.trybooking.com/DPBZA

We are stepping even further back in time today...actually this day in 1940.

We were fossicking around in an old Siren soap box, sorting through spare floor tiles, when we found the remnants of this old The Sun newspaper dated Thursday 26 September 1940.

While the condition is pretty rough, it's still an interesting insight to the times, including WW2.

Don't forget if you would like to pop along for a Sticky Beak inside the Theatre on Saturday 3 October, bookings are open now. Book here: https://www.trybooking.com/DPBZA

A blast from the past today with a movie programme from 1987. As well as the latest movies, this programme featured a performance by the local band, Louis Burrendong and The Wollars supporting the movie - La Bamba. What a night that would have been!?

Thanks to the Doust family for digging through their archives.

Don't forget to book your spot on the last Theatre Sticky Beak tours for the year on Saturday 3 October. Everyone is welcome.

It’s Sticky Beak time!

For those of you who have missed out on our Sticky Beak Sessions up to now, the doors of the Regent Theatre will be open again on Saturday 3 October. Yes, that’s the Saturday of the Long Weekend.

This will probably be the last opportunity to have a look in the Theatre this year. We are deep in the planning and design process and do hope to share our plans with you all before the end of the year. Depending on how fast approvals move, we will definitely be running more Sticky Beak Sessions in 2027.

Our Sticky Beak Sessions allow you to have a quick look inside, learn about the history of the Theatre, to see what state it is in at the moment, and any refurbishment works as they progress.

These tours will be SHORT – only around 20minutes – and they will be guided. You cannot explore every area of the Theatre at this stage. While the building is still a bit of a work in progress, we want to ensure that everyone stays safe.

Book Your Tickets Here: https://www.trybooking.com/DPBZA
Cost: FREE
What to Bring: A face mask. No mask, no entry! Please wear enclosed shoes/solid footwear.

And, if you book tickets and can no longer attend, PLEASE let us know. We do keep a waitlist and always have other people keen to wander through the doors.

We look forward to sharing this gem of a building with you, your friends and family.

Our research continues both near and far.

At the Theatre yesterday, we were pleased to meet up with Andrew from Jands, and Mac and Arlan from Mudgee Event Lighting and Production. Andrew was demonstrating some very high quality and very loud Meyer Speakers. :-)

All these options are going into the mix to ensure we develop the most professional venue possible.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

The Forum Theatre in Melbourne was another eye opener. They have a different layout than other theatres that we have seen, but still a knockout.

We really appreciated the opportunity to look inside and learn. Thanks to the Forum team Forum Melbourne

We have had some special visitors to the Regent Theatre of late including Andrew aka Barocky Chocky - our wonderful logo designer. Check out his page if you want to see a whole stack of amazing retro designs.

Then we had Meryl Tankard AO and Regis Lansac OAM, both specialists in their fields (dance and choreographer, and photography respectively) and long-term lovers of our region.

Thanks so much for visiting Mudgee and our little work-in-progress.

We think this is what the Regent looked like in 1935. Apparently the neon sign on the roof was seen from miles around the town, but was hit by lightening in the 1980s (??) and it was blown to smithereens. How good would it look with the sign back on the roof?

Many thanks to Sue England from the Mudgee Museum for digging through the archives to find this photo.
