Cape Town 48 Hour Film Project

Cape Town 48 Hour Film Project The place to stay up to date with all the information about the 48 Hour Film Project running in Cape Registrations open in June, so get your team together.

The 48 Hour Film Project, hosted by benchfilms, is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, 19 August, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Our 2023 Bursary winner Max Fouchee is now in their third year at SAE and recently worked as Cinematographer on Just Enough, a romcom written and directed by Lara Du Plessis. As their biggest project yet, the seven-day production was a huge challenge, but one Max absolutely loved.

They were able to experiment with some incredible gear, including the Nisi Athena lenses recently introduced on campus, which helped achieve the creative look they were going for. Max also worked with Peter Lambert Rentals to get the extra gear needed to light and rig each set. After long days, aching muscles and more than a few bruises, Max says it was all worth it and they’re proud of what they captured.
