By the late 1980’s to early 90’s Globe Princess Theatre ran mainly feature films (averaging 1.5 - 2 hours in length.) Two projectors were needed as most features required multiple reels. To avoid interruptions in the film the projectionist needed to accurately time the changeover from one reel to the next.

Most of Arthur’s grandkids had the distinct pleasure of learning this technique: they would keep a watchful eye out for a "dark flicker" in the right hand corner of the screen - the first projector would be manually stopped (shutting off its light) and the second projector would be turned on, keeping the film continuous.

Once each finished reel was removed, it needed to be rewound before the next show. A painstaking process as sometimes there were around 8-10 reels per film.

The Parade Theatre (est.1964) was Mr. Rolle’s first cinematic venture. Constructed across from historic Bayfront Park, it featured a balcony and mainfloor and catered to communities through the length of the island.

Mainstream movies of the 1960s and 1970s yielded sold-out crowds. The concession stand offered takeout service too, with Mrs. Rolle’s best-selling hotdogs on homemade buns.

The structure sustained considerable damage from Hurricane Betsy the summer of 1965, and would undergo substantial repairs over the years, before later being condemned.
