According to him, Ghanaian producers don’t tell authentic stories reasons why lots of people have lost interest in their movies.

Ghanaian filmmakers aren’t invited in international film festivals and seminars abroad.

How true is this ?

"Nollywood has lost value. Right now I don't know if it's P**n or just movies... Can you even watch a Nollywood movie together with your family again?" - Emeka Ike

How many girls act like Genevieve today? How many people wanna act like Omotola and other veteran actors?

Most people don't wanna act meaningful movies again. Instead of going to Academies, most girls just do BBL, advertise their nyash through movies and sell it to politicĂŽans and other rich people.

Lovy De Lovy
Nigerian 🇳🇬 Nollywood actor, Sylvester Madu, also known as Shina Rambo, has debunked claims of selling okrika, which popularly refers to second-hand or thrifted clothing.

Naija News reports that in 2023, a video of the movie star selling clothes on the floor of a popular market in Enugu State, made the rounds on social media and sparked rumours that he was selling okrika.

So, in an interview with media personality, Patience Yisa, Sylvester clarified that the clothes he was filmed selling were not necessarily okrika because they were on the floor.

However, According to the thespian, he imports brand-new clothes from the United States and has multiple shops managed by his workers.

Dear Mr. Uchenna Mbunabo Tv

With all due respect sir, I do hope this movie you’re about to drop (or already dropped) isn’t about “age is just a number” where a younger guy (in this case Clinton Joshua) would be seen falling in love with a much older lady (in this instance, the legendary Nadia Buari)?

I mean, the money for the project is yours and the equipment, crew members plus the cast are all yours to wield but don’t you think viewers deserve something different and better as opposed to a redundant and overly used storyline and possibly plot? I’m talking movies that are worth their money? These people spend their hard earned cash to buy data which is what translates to or culminates into the money you’re making.

Don’t you think you should at least put them into consideration? I know you have your target audience who would watch just about anything you put out. But sir, there are some who just can’t resist seeing some of their faves in your production as well as other producers too and would rather stake it and proceed to watch regardless only to be sometimes or most often grossly utterly disappointed 😔

This is a tool, I believe you have successfully harnessed overtime and are now using to your own advantage. The question is for how long? How long will this continue to be the case?

Just this past weekend, your colleague in the industry Omoni Oboli released a movie with the same young talent in this photo. It was same theme of “age is just a number!” While the movie has already garnered lots of views, however, many viewers in my opinion and from findings are disgruntled at the outcome of the movie.

This is just one example. There are a myriad and tonnes of other movies both past and present with this same concept. Viewers are tired of the repetitive narrative. Most of these movies are somewhat heavily regurgitated. You all can do better if you want and I know this for sure.

It appears that quality isn’t the goal here but quantity and the desire to amass wealth. But I ask, at whose expense? Y’all probably don’t even watch your movies cos if you do, you’d have felt the pains of the viewers (well-meaning ones) by now. Consequent upon that, I believe you would have had to go back to the drawing board to re-strategise and come up with a more improved output.

Well, what do I know? Who am I? You’d probably see this (or maybe not) and toss it aside like it’s nothing. You and/or your team may decide to block me like many have done but the truth is that all we want is a Nollywood we can be proud of on a larger greater scale. I’m getting tired of defending some of you especially offline. And I’m not even joking about this.

Heaven knows I love my Nollywood and want the best for her! Keeping hope alive and staying positive that things would improve one step at a time.

Yours concerned,

~ Lizzy Pereowei Writes
