Dear Mr. Uchenna Mbunabo Tv
With all due respect sir, I do hope this movie youâre about to drop (or already dropped) isnât about âage is just a numberâ where a younger guy (in this case Clinton Joshua) would be seen falling in love with a much older lady (in this instance, the legendary Nadia Buari)?
I mean, the money for the project is yours and the equipment, crew members plus the cast are all yours to wield but donât you think viewers deserve something different and better as opposed to a redundant and overly used storyline and possibly plot? Iâm talking movies that are worth their money? These people spend their hard earned cash to buy data which is what translates to or culminates into the money youâre making.
Donât you think you should at least put them into consideration? I know you have your target audience who would watch just about anything you put out. But sir, there are some who just canât resist seeing some of their faves in your production as well as other producers too and would rather stake it and proceed to watch regardless only to be sometimes or most often grossly utterly disappointed đ
This is a tool, I believe you have successfully harnessed overtime and are now using to your own advantage. The question is for how long? How long will this continue to be the case?
Just this past weekend, your colleague in the industry Omoni Oboli released a movie with the same young talent in this photo. It was same theme of âage is just a number!â While the movie has already garnered lots of views, however, many viewers in my opinion and from findings are disgruntled at the outcome of the movie.
This is just one example. There are a myriad and tonnes of other movies both past and present with this same concept. Viewers are tired of the repetitive narrative. Most of these movies are somewhat heavily regurgitated. You all can do better if you want and I know this for sure.
It appears that quality isnât the goal here but quantity and the desire to amass wealth. But I ask, at whose expense? Yâall probably donât even watch your movies cos if you do, youâd have felt the pains of the viewers (well-meaning ones) by now. Consequent upon that, I believe you would have had to go back to the drawing board to re-strategise and come up with a more improved output.
Well, what do I know? Who am I? Youâd probably see this (or maybe not) and toss it aside like itâs nothing. You and/or your team may decide to block me like many have done but the truth is that all we want is a Nollywood we can be proud of on a larger greater scale. Iâm getting tired of defending some of you especially offline. And Iâm not even joking about this.
Heaven knows I love my Nollywood and want the best for her! Keeping hope alive and staying positive that things would improve one step at a time.
Yours concerned,
