Wow! Huge thanks to all 10 EAS partner organizations and Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center in particular for hosting a tremendous closing night for EAS 2026 last Friday! 🫶👏 Everyone brought their best, from engaging films to irresistible global cuisine. What a perfect evening to conclude our 20th edition of EuroAsia Shorts. 🎉

What an incredible night it was featuring Pakistani and French films last week! Pakistan Embassy US and Alliance Française de Washington DC brought a wonderful selection and a substantive discussion that touched on topics of history, filmmaking styles, geography, artistic expression, mental health, development, and much more. EAS is all about the dialogue, understanding, and insight through the medium of short film. 🎬 Plus, we enjoyed a fantastic reception to cap off the night. Thank you, partners, hosts, and guests! 🙌 🇵🇰 🇫🇷 💓

🌟🌍Last night the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Washington and Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. featured an incredible selection of shorts from Italy and Korea at the Embassy of Italy!

Fitting the theme of Past/Present/Future, the discussion touched on topics of truth, family, futurism, AI, generation and class divides, technology, the role of film music, politics, human nature, permanence, and democracy. This is what EuroAsia Shorts is all about! 💭♥️🫰

20th Anniversary EuroAsia Shorts Film Festival | Austrian-Indonesian Partner Film Night on June 8, 2026

Join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary of EuroAsia Shorts and the 250th anniversary of the DC-based festival's host nation with a mix of favorite short films from the past two decades and new films that represent a bright new horizon.

EuroAsia Shorts (EAS) returns with in-person screenings, discussions, and reception events featuring international short films at Washington, D.C. embassies and cultural centers, all free to the public, from June 5 – 12, 2026! This year, six EAS screening events take place. The first five evenings are dedicated to Partner Nights blending short films from two countries designed as a conversation on this year's central theme, Past/Present/Future. They will be followed by the traditional Closing Night on Friday, June 12, presenting shorts from all 10 partner countries (Austria, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Spain).

The event will begin at 7:30 PM with an Austrian wine reception and a taste of Indonesia. The film screening will start around 8:15 PM and is followed by a panel discussion with Indonesian director Nick Hartanto (Film: Daly City, 2024) and a Q&A with the audience.

🎬✨ Celebrating the 19th edition of EuroAsia Shorts festival in D.C.! EuroAsia Shorts 2026 returns with a full week of short films, cultural dialogue, and post-screening events. Each year, this festival presents a diverse range of films and styles united by a common theme. This year, Spain and Oman will present their short films, diving into this year’s theme: Past / Present / Future.

🗣️🎤 The event features post-screening cultural Q&A sessions and discussions with experts every night, fostering an international cinematic dialogue unique to Washington.
