I shot hoops with my 16 year old last night. I actually didn’t really shoot, but I was her rebounder for few throws, as she practiced foot work around the basket, shot long range and 3 pointers, a defender dummy as she worked on dribbling, and more.

At one point, as we had stopped to move some cones, she said, “mom, that quote by Tom Brady, about just being consistent, is my favorite, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

And I have seen it.

She doesn’t look like the same player as she did 12 months ago.

She’s confident. She’s consistent.

And I’m grateful for her example.

What else could we do, if we were just consistent and being willing to work?

Is Holladay still a good place to buy?

This was the question a couple relocating from Illinois asked me yesterday. They have children living in Sugar House, working and studying at the University of Utah.

I sent them this Listing, for sale, by my good friend Kristin with Niche Homes, up a private land on over a 1/2 acres (with additional adjacent acreage available for purchase).

Is it wedding season?

Not really.

But not surprising, there are so many benefits in getting married during the off season. A slower pace to make decisions, less expensive and one can still enjoy beautiful weather.

The same can said about Buying or Selling in the off season.

You don’t have to feel rushed.

A Buyer can potentially negotiate a less expensive home (less multiple offers, motivated builders or sellers), and you can still enjoy beautiful weather in your home before the end of the year.

In fact, I have an investor client that as soon as it gets cold, sends me a text and says, “time to start looking again.”

I didn’t grow up with Dolly’s music blaring in our home, but of course I was familiar with her songs and her as a person and I loved this quote that popped up.

However, my 6th grader, Kiera, has read and read about her. And a few weeks ago, Kiera had the idea to honor Dolly Parton more at school, by playing her music after the last bell during school pick up.

She pitched the idea to the principal, and he repeatedly said no. A few days later, he found her at recess, and said, “we are going to give it a try this afternoon and play one song, which would you recommend? And she responded, “9-to-5.”

Kiera didn’t tell me about this experience until the following Monday, when her principal found her again at lunch and said, “Kiera, thank you so much for your great idea. I have received so many calls and messages from parents, thanking us for both playing music and honoring Dolly Parton.
