ACFF has its home in Shepherdstown, WV, a thriving arts community 90 miles west of Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. As part of our mission, the ACFF: • Provides a venue for a diverse range of conservation films that rarely receive a wide showing; • Showcases independent, student, historic, publicly funded and Appalachian films; • Offers an education component that complements the film selections and supports those interested in conservation filmmaking.

Mission: The American Conservation Film Festival is dedicated to promoting outstanding films and the arts to educate and inspire people to become engaged in conservation. The motivating force behind ACFF is the power of imagery to inform and inspire.

‘The Serengeti Rules’ Review: Making Science Spellbinding

Congratulations to The Serengeti Rules team on the amazing review and "Critics Pick" by The New York Times! We couldn’t agree more and are so pleased we were able to share your wonderful film during our 2018 Festival!

"The great accomplishment of “The Serengeti Rules” is that it directs the viewer to see beauty in the way an ecologist might. Color, movement and texture all become indicators of ecological health. Seeking loveliness, the eye becomes trained to look for biodiversity." Teo Bugbee, The New York Times

http://ow.ly/eoQc50u6ITN

A documentarian and his crew re-enact real ecological experiments, training the viewer to see biodiversity as beauty.

It's Meatless Monday! Perhaps the most impactful action we can take to show our love for Mother Earth, other creatures and our bodies is to move toward a plant-based diet. It saves water and forests. It reduces greenhouse gases and waste run-off that pollutes rivers and oceans. With so many meat substitutes in stores and recipes online, it really is easier than ever before.

Get a glimpse of spring migration in NYC’s Central Park with guide, Jason Ward, who keenly identifies species and engages fellow birders he meets along the way. Central Park is a great place to bird and his enthusiasm is infectious. From behind binoculars, Ward whispers: "Sometimes it is hard to contain your excitement when you’re this close to a bird…but you have to be partying inside. Keep your party inside.” (via The Kid Should See This )
