The Bay Theatre Proudly Presents:
“FIVE SUMMER STORIES"
5.29 | 7pm

Some films don’t just capture a moment in time, they become part of it.

“Five Summer Stories” is one of those rare films.

Released in 1972, Greg MacGillivray’s landmark surf documentary captured the spirit of a California that felt endless: long days, uncrowded waves, beach towns, road trips, and a generation chasing freedom along the coast. More than fifty years later, its sense of wonder remains untouched.

Whether you grew up with surf culture or simply love stories surrounded in youth, adventure, and the places that shape us…”Five Summer Stories” is a film best experienced on the big screen and with a crowd.

We’re honored to welcome legendary filmmaker Greg MacGillivray for a special post-film Q&A, where he’ll share stories from the making of the film and reflect on its lasting legacy.

Join us for an evening of sun-soaked nostalgia, community, and one of the most beloved surf films ever made.

A perfect way to gear up for your summer season.

Friday 5.29 | 7PM

Few films have ever captured the feeling of wanting more from life quite like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. A quintessential time capsule of New York in the early 60’s.

Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly moves through the city with charm, wit, and effortless elegance, but beneath the glamour is someone searching for connection, identity, and a place to belong. It’s that balance, playful and aching at the same time, that continues to make the film feel timeless through the years.

Romantic, bittersweet, funny, and endlessly iconic. Breakfast at Tiffany’s remains one of cinema’s most beloved portraits of modern longing and beneath it all a love letter to one of the greatest cities in the world.

Join us at The Bay Theatre for a very special screening this Thursday at 4pm at your favorite local seaside cinema.

We’ll be adding a very special Holly Golightly Frosè Slushie to our menu for the evening. Won’t you join us?

Wim Wenders’ “Paris, Texas” remains one of the most quietly devastating portraits of loneliness, memory, and human connection ever put to film. Vast American landscapes, drifting neon light, and Ry Cooder’s unforgettable score come together in a film that feels both deeply intimate and impossibly expansive.

Tender, searching, and achingly beautiful, Paris, Texas is the kind of film that reminds us why repertory cinema matters.

Some stories belong to a place.

“Harbour Chronicles: Shaping a Legacy” is more than a surf documentary…it’s a portrait of a town, the people who built it, and the quiet influence one life can leave on an entire community.

Centered around local icon Rich Harbour and the generations shaped by his passion for surfing, craftsmanship, and coastal culture, the film captures a version of Southern California that feels both deeply personal and increasingly rare.

For those who grew up near the water, it will feel familiar. For those who didn’t, it offers a glimpse into the kind of small-town spirit and creative devotion that turns ordinary places into home.

Directed by local filmmaker and Seal Beach resident Chris Sardelis.

Playing tomorrow night at 7:30 PM at The Bay Theatre
