Chesterfield County Fair

The fair is still going strong through Saturday. Stop by for Midway rides, a deep-fried Oreo, a rodeo, mutton bustin', beach party music from The Embers and Journey-tribute band Departure. Friday 5 p.m. - 11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. $5-$10 admission, additional for rides. Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Road.
Last weekend for Flying Squirrels
Through Monday, Sept. 4
It’s the last homestand for the Flying Squirrels. The home team wraps up the summer with a literal bang (but of course) with fireworks and $5 burgers on Thursday, free T-shirts on Friday, fireworks on Saturday and Sunday, and a final day-time game on Monday. Pocahontas Premieres : Richmond Jazz Band
Sunday, Sept. 3
Say goodbye to summer with a free concert in Pocahontas State Park. Richmond Jazz Band, a 20-piece ensemble, will plays jazz standards, big band tunes and more. The band is an off-shoot of the popular Richmond Concert Band. 7 p.m. (gates at 6 p.m.) at Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Drive, Chesterfield.
