Sowing is a basic concept that you get out what you put in. What are you sowing? How are you caring for what you have sown? What are you reaping? Check your fruit. Is it bountiful or is it lacking?

When you see a task that needs to be accomplished by your team, do you “push” them to get it done or do you “pull” them in, giving them a say in how they carry it out and using inspiration and motivation to get them going? Pulling involves describing to a direct report a needed task, explaining the underlying reason for it, seeing what ideas they might have on how to best accomplish it, and asking if they are willing to take it on. The leader can further enhance the pull by describing what this project might do for the employee’s development. Ideally, the leader’s energy and enthusiasm for the goal are contagious. It’s wonderful when the people believe in their leader. It’s more wonderful when the leader believes in their people!

There are some things that the Lord hates in scripture. May we pray diligently for one another that we will not fall into these sins. Our hatred for one another is steeped in emotions and self righteousness, but God hates the sin or the detestable actions. Fix your focus on prayer against those things for yourself and for others. You hating? Someone hating on you? Let us pray that the light of Christ will change hearts.

Poor leadership empowers their employees to do the work but take all the credit for themselves. However, the purpose of leadership and specifically of servant leadership should be to both empower and reward others. This is how a leader is supposed to motivate their team or chapter. A leader’s success is not about external accolades or success, although they provide good feedback to a leader and help measure progress. A leader’s success is all about the team. What makes these leaders and others like them so powerful and successful is their ability to encourage and inspire outstanding work without taking any credit for themselves. Be observant, give credit, and acknowledge success in others.
