Dune pt. 2 - I really really really liked this flick for so many reasons. But keeping it simple...

Kinda funny to say but as a guy who over-studies films for a living, if I didn't know who the director was I'd have said it felt like the perfect combo of French filmmaking style & American cinematic innovations... funny because the director Dennis Villeneuve is French Canadian (who would've thunk?!!).

And also, I just hope whoever was in charge of costumes gets shelves full of awards when this is over. I rarely go "cool outfit" while watching a movie, but I was LOVING how cool everybody looked. Everything just felt so so so cool.

Mad love to the Emmy's for the "Waterman" nomination & invite to NYC. Seeing Duke on the screens at TimesSquare 100+ yrs after he won over the world with Aloha... teary Mahalo. Inspired by Duke, it felt right to for me to rep our Polynesian heritage on the Red Carpet (pictured w/ my awesome Producers). It was a night of talking with TV and Film peeps from all over the world about the Polynesian Islands, the people, and THE MAN Duke. I do all I can to represent my fellow Poly peeps, in a way that I hope can make them proud. I never thought being a life-long movie nerd would ever put me in positions like this. Such a blessing and incredible moment to spend with my wife (who has to deal with a crazy artist for a husband). Dream big and share Aloha… the world needs it now more than ever.

Wow. “Outstanding Historical Documentary.” So awesome to help keep Dukes name in the news and on people’s minds as long as we can. And then for all the crew and people crazy enough to help make this happen, have our hard work receive recognition in the process. Everything about this project has been humbling and life-changing. From Sidewinder Films to Duane DeSoto, Chet Thomas, John Murphy, Bill Pratt, Carter Fawcett, to… man the list is massive… this stuff requires the help of a village, and we all ran at it with a goal to show off (IMO) one of the most important people ever to live, Duke Kahanamoku.

The nominations are out for the 44th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, and CNN leads the way with a commanding 45 noms ahead of Vice (30) and ABC and PBS (26 each). See the list of nominee…

Nadi Airport, Fiji - There are always little signs that subtly tell you “you’re in a different country.” I just wonder how much of a problem item #1 is on planes.
