VIDEO SUBMISSION:
Dear Money Marci. It is now pretty obvious that I am kneecapping my credit score by not paying a debt incurred amounting to about 400 dollars or a week's pay for the average exploitee. I am literally laughing at the invoice because no matter who asks me to pay it (the original lender conveniently forgot my billing address when I canceled the account and so I never received a statement so here we are), they can't charge interest or any fee.
The immediate benefit to having 400 dollars in credit card debt even if I can pay it without blinking, is very different from the parking ticket that I received in error when I was out of state, which has ballooned to almost the same amount today after five years of me patiently waiting to see if I ever need to go to that side of the country to bother canceling the bench warrant. I carry the material evidence to prove I was not illegally parked and if they can come to get me from Portland Oregon I don't belong here anyway...
I digress.
This benefit appears to be preapproval for credit, HELOC, mortgage breaks, as if I had monstrous debt and a desperate willingness to finance or consolidate same. I don't really have this debt if I have maybe 70 to 200 times this amount in savings. I don't like to think this form of sticking it to the man is particularly easy to brag about among people who would do anything to have my current borrowing APR. I detect a splintering of the middle class, and I am becoming a target of some serious up-punching all because I share the countryside with people who need to pay rent, while in fact we're all quaintly entertaining an unattainable godlike ruling class. So I have a question.
Do you like fruit on, or in your baked desserts?
