UNDER THE INFLUENCE is a film series on VHS (complete with those irritating but endearing outdated trailers and deathly-serious FBI warnings), focusing on cult movies, horror, underground films, psychedelia, experimental cinema, rarely-seen gems and oddities from around the globe. UNDER THE INFLUENCE is a look back to the pre-digital age, before films were easily accessible at the click of mouse.
In the analog days, copies of obscure films were legends to be sought after, third-generation Japanese-subtitled copies of "Evil Dead" were things to be treasured, and the whole search could easily be spoiled by a simple case of bad tracking - or worse, that grinding, whirring sound that meant explaining to the guy at the local video store that your VCR had eaten yet another tape. UNDER THE INFLUENCE is a nod to the role that the days of VHS - the Wild West, compared to current viewing practices - played in the development of today's generation of cinephiles. UPCOMING EVENTS:
