PRESS RELEASE

(NOV. 14, 2019) LATINA Style, Inc., the premier company addressing the needs of professional Latinas in the United States recognized Yvette Moise, President and Co-Founder of the Georgia Latino Film Festival and Alliance recognized with the "Leadership Award" for HER dedicated community service, leadership, and vision at the LATINA Style Business Series in Atlanta, GA on November 14th.

"It's an honor to receive this recognition from LATINA Style Magazine

Today is a bittersweet day.
I ’m coming here to receive gratefully this beautiful award but today is one of my favorite cousins 30th birthday. My cousin Jennifer who passed away from a massive cardiac attack and leaving behind a beautiful son and loving husband, few days ago.
Health is wealth. Take care your hearts and body for you and your love ones.

As a afrolatina ...It is not easy to build your own table and invite the community to join it ...success does not come overnight but it is not impossible either. To every NO I got on my way, I always to find a yes in someone else. I never give up.

As a Latina (more like Afro-Latina) I am proud to be recognized by Latina Style Magazine but there is still a lot of work to do ... It has been 16 years giving all of me in the Latino community of the United States, supporting, advocating for afrolatinos and immigrants civil rights, sponsoring and giving awards and recognizing others professionals and entrepreneurs in our community.

This make me feel incredible because I want to share this little anecdote with you...someone told me once that I always going to be in the shadows, because I always have been helping and supporting others and making sure that my brothers and sisters shine in our community and this thought I got stock in my mind for awhile and I never said anything and I kept doing what I love: help and lift others. Many people have been seeing me working hard "behind the scenes" for my community. Few days ago, that thought stopped in my head.

Being recognized for this prestigious and national organization such as Latina Style Magazine, it fills me with pride because that claims that I am on the right track. My advice to you is do not listen the noise and don't allow yourself to stop believing in you... Hard work, always pays off. Specially when you do it with passion and integrity.

I’m so passionate working as President and Co- founder of Georgia Latino Film Alliance and Festival because our mission is to bridge cultural understanding, encourage artistic development and excellence by provoking thought through film. Georgia is the number one in production in USA and worldwide. Making 9 Billion dollars a year. It is our time to shine in the film industry.

My vision is to end with the rhetoric and stereotypes of the Latino community in the film industry ... the history of the Latino community on the big screen goes beyond being gardeners, nannies, prostitutes, maids, criminals or narcos…

Our Latino community is rich in culture and history ... if our community, culture and history were promoted in the right way it could change politics and even the way other communities see Latinos in the United States.

The Latino community represents the largest number of film consumers (moviegoers) in the USA.

What would happen if we get involved in the film industry? That’s why we built our own table.

According to the University of Southern California study, Latino actors only had 3% of the lead or co-lead roles in Hollywood films.
Latino actors barely landed 4.5% of more than 47,000 speaking roles in the 100 top-grossing U.S.

Hispanic audiences continue to be disproportionately underrepresented in Hollywood features, even though they make up about 25% of the annual box office's frequent moviegoers seeing an average of almost five films a year in 2018, according to the MPA.

Let's stop the noise and support each other like Latina Style Magazine has been doing in the last 21 years...
