We’re bringing an exclusive documentary screening of WILMINGTON 10 - USA 10,000 to Brooklyn, NY this Friday, Nov. 14th at Weeksville Heritage Center.

In October 1972, ten civil rights activists—nine Black and one white, almost all high school students—were wrongfully convicted of arson, each serving nearly a decade before an appeal won their release.

WILMINGTON 10 - USA 10,000 gives a kaleidoscopic portrait of their fight for freedom through interviews with family members and political activist Assata Shakur. Visionary director Haile Gerima masterfully connects the injustices in the case with historical legacies of slavery and Jim Crow, the 1898 Wilmington Massacre, and contemporary violence by white supremacists.

The film remained nearly unseen for decades but has gained renewed attention thanks to a 4K digital restoration by the Academy Film Archive.

GHETTO CHILDREN is a coming-of-age documentary about three rappers and childhood friends navigating adulthood while living in the shadow of their famous fathers (Juvenile, B.G., and Soulja Slim). The 22nd Annual NC Black Film Festival will honor film producer and animator Bruce W. Smith (Disney's THE PROUD FAMILY, Academy Award-Winner HAIR LOVE) with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award in Animation and cinematographer Isiah Donté Lee (Marvel's AGATHA ALL ALONG, Netflix's WINDFALL) with the 2025 Visionary Award in Cinematography. The festival takes place April 10-13 in Wilmington, NC.

The 22nd NCBFF is set to take place on April 10 through 13 in Wilmington.
