On January 3, 2026 I.A.T.S.E, Local 611 celebrated its 100th Anniversary at one of its longest organized halls, the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.
The event celebrated not only the longevity of the Local, but also the Lifelong Achievement of Brother Robert “Bobby” Morgan. The importance of Brother Morgan’s contributions to the Local were highlighted by his contemporaries; Brother Rick Larsen, Brother Bob Williamson, and Sister Sandy England who returned to her home Local to join the celebration. The City of Santa Cruz issued a Proclamation declaring January 3 “Local Stagehands’ Day” in our honor. Area Local Business Reps from San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento joined two International Vice Presidents and four current and former International Representatives who showed their solidarity by joining the festivities. The Local’s “house guy”, Brother Chris “Jeeves” Butler and a crew of volunteer members created a sophisticated yet casual atmosphere that provided a delightful evening of sharing and solidarity. While the event inspired a local reporter to pen a glowing tribute in the Monterey Herald that week, the true spirit of the event was summed up by one guest who said, “It wasn’t too fancy, it had the perfect 611 vibe.”

The accompanying picture is of the article in the IATSE Bulletin, with the International VPs and Reps alongside the IATSE Local 611 Executive Board.

IATSE Endorses Tom Steyer for California Governor. All IATSE local 611 delegates voted to endorse.

As governor, I’ll make sure production continues in California with substantial tax credits, and a commitment to unionized labor—and I’ll never be a rubber stamp for the AI industry.

IATSE Local 611 technicians have once again excelled at the Pebble Beach Authors and Ideas Festival at Stevenson School. A great deal of effort is required to ensure the smooth ex*****on of events, from pre-production meetings to the load-in, effectively managing and overseeing the event operations, and ensuring a safe load-out. Local 611 consistently delivers from one production to another. Collaborating with top-tier events in the Monterey Bay Area, who trust 611 to guarantee their events will meet or surpass their expectations is truly remarkable.
