It’s that time again: time to talk Oscar noms! 🍿 With this year’s awards season delayed due to the pandemic, these nominations have been a long time coming – Mank scored big this morning with 10 nominations making it the film with the most nominations, with six films tied for second most nominations, including Judas and the Black Messiah and The Trial of the Chicago 7 scoring six noms each. It was also a record-breaking class of nominees, marking the first time more than one woman has been nominated for Best Director in Oscars history – Chloé Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman – and Minari's Steven Yeun becoming the first Asian American nominated for Best Actor in Oscars history 📽
What did you think? Any noms (or snubs!) that got you fired up? Let’s chat in the comments ⬇️

Please note: This is a pic from the ~before times~ but we will have new pics with our socially distant seating setup soon 😊
It's #InternationalWomensDay so we're saluting these three incredible directors taking over this awards season 🎬 Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) and Regina King (One Night in Miami) made history this year when they were each nominated for Best Director at the Golden Globes, the first time a class of nominees has included more than one female director 🙌 Chloé went on to win the award for her work on Nomadland, making her the first Asian woman and only the second woman EVER to win 🤩 We'll be cheering these ladies on when @bafta nominations are released tomorrow and when @theacademy releases their nominations next week! 👏

Thank you to everyone who helped us help our neighbors this week at The Drive-In off Navigation in Houston! 💜 We are lucky and grateful that we could repurpose our site as a temporary relief station for folks affected by the winter storms. Couldn’t have done it without our dedicated on-site staff, amazing volunteers from the community and That Vegan Joint + Cranky Carrot Juice Co. stepping in to donate their time (and delicious food!) 👏
With the sun shining and temperatures warming once again, we plan to open our cinema doors and get back to screening some of your favorite films starting tonight. When you’re ready for a safe escape into the world of cinema, we’re ready to welcome you back 📽
* UPDATE (Feb. 19) - Our Houston Relief Station will be open TODAY from noon to 6PM with help from That Vegan Joint! *
To our friends and neighbors in Houston, we’ve converted our drive-in location in the East End into a relief station for those affected by the winter storm. If you're nearby and can safely get to us, please stop by 2315 Navigation Boulevard from now through 8 p.m. tonight to charge your devices, use our WiFi, and get some free snacks and drinks, as well as battery powered string lights and tea lights while supplies last 💜
We're also looking for local food vendors who would like to join us to provide free meals to the community. If you're interested, please contact [email protected].
In the midst of this devastating winter storm, we're sending lots of love to our wonderful and strong Texas community 💜 The safety of guests and team members is always our number one priority, so screenings at The Drive-In off Navigation are cancelled through this Friday. We're closely monitoring the situation on the ground as well as following local guidelines to ensure we get through this together, safely. Here's to warmer days under the Texan sun returning real soon ☀️
Don’t have a Valentine for this weekend? We’ve got you covered 😉 Screenshot for your perfect movie match and tell us which character you got (or wish you got!) 😍⬇️
Houston! We want to thank you for your patience and share that our new venue, The Drive-In off Navigation, is officially opening Friday, Feb. 12! ✨ Tickets are live for screenings through the rest of February and we’ll be rolling out March screenings next week🌟 We’re thrilled to bring our Houston community more chances to enjoy a night out under the stars with movies screening on our permanent 64-foot screen (the largest drive-in screen in the city of Houston!), plus new state-of-the-art projection equipment and other fun surprises on site 🎉 Visit http://rooftopcinemaclub.com/navigation to join us back at The Drive-In!
While the weather is looking a little iffy this weekend, our new equipment is built to withstand and we plan to screen rain or shine 🤩 If you find that you want to reschedule your tickets at any point, for any reason, we offer free ticket transfers right up until the movie start time 🎟
*UPDATED* Hey Dallas 👋 After more than 5 months of magical memories and iconic movies, our time at The Drive-In at The Central is coming to a close.
When we opened this venue, our intention was to build a setup that could withstand the highs and lows of Dallas weather, but unfortunately our hands have been tied due to city zoning restrictions. Since we can’t deliver the enhanced experience we always envisioned, we’ve made the difficult decision to halt our operations early and close The Drive-In at The Central starting Feb. 10. 😔
And don’t worry – we're already in the process of securing a new drive-in home in Dallas, so stick around for an announcement coming soon 💜
Tonight we say so long Santa Monica 👋 It’s been our absolute pleasure providing a safe environment for you to enjoy your favorite films here on the Westside 📽 The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport was always meant to be a limited-time run for us, but your passion for this venue left a lasting impression! With your support, we entertained 50,000+ guests, averaged a 4.9/5 Google rating, and raised more than $10,000 for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank through our Community Screenings 😍 None of this would have been possible without you, so THANK YOU, Los Angeles, for a truly great run!
Just like any good movie, the ending is bittersweet – but don't worry we plan to be back for a sequel 😉 Stay tuned to our socials and sign up for our email newsletter so you're first to know when we bring our outdoor cinema experiences back to LA later this year 💜
BIG birthday happened this week 🎉🎂 Pixar Animation Studios is celebrating 35 years of heart-warming stories and award-winning animation! There are so many great ways to observe Black History Month, but one of our favorites has to be by watching films that showcase Black actors, directors, writers, filmmakers and their stories. 🎬 These are just a few of our favorite films screening at The Drive-In this month, but we'd love to hear – what else are you watching to celebrate? 💜
We had the time of our lives when Julz Tocker and Kat Fedosova helped fire up our screening of Dirty Dancing with a live, pre-show performance of the film's ICONIC dance scene, in partnership with KNEKT.tv 😍 We can't wait to bring even more unforgettable moments to your outdoor movie experiences! 💃 What classic dance scene do you want to see LIVE at The Drive-In next??
Surprise 🎉 We just released a handful of NEW late-night screenings for The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport – starting this Friday! The people have spoken! 🎉 Earlier this month we asked our Dallas and LA movie-lovers to right an awards wrong by picking their favorite film from a list of the most unacceptable snubs in awards history – and the results are in! 🌟 Our People’s Choice: Biggest Snubs screenings are happening this Saturday, Jan 30. with a screening of E.T. The Extra Terrestrial at The Drive-In at the Central in Dallas and a screening of Almost Famous at The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport in Los Angeles! 🎬 Our LA screening is sold out, but Dallas there’s still time to get your tickets at rooftopcinemaclub.com/central now! 🎟
ICYMI: Earlier this week, we broke the news that The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport will be taking its curtain call on Feb. 6 💜 We know you’re bummed (we’re sad too!), but this was always meant to be a short run. The good news is we’ve got big plans for LA, including bringing back our Rooftops and hopefully another drive-in later this year 🤩 For now, be sure to get your tickets because final screenings are selling out fast 🏃♀️ and we don't want you to miss out on our *one-of-a-kind* drive-in experience!
Next month is coming up fast and we’ve got a shiny new program to share with you 🌟 February tickets are live now for The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport in #LosAngeles, The Drive-In at The Central in #Dallas and The Drive-In off Navigation in #Houston! With today's launch also comes some bittersweet news for our LA community 🥺 This will be our last ticket release for The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport.
