The Void at The Smell

The Void at The Smell Since 1998, The Smell has been a community oriented art and music space for those interested in D.I.Y. values. The Void Gallery at The Smell adheres to these principles and showcases unrepresented artists whose work is both innovative and unconventional.

June show: Wicked Game showcases works by Pat Blocher, Philippe de Sablet, Phil Davis, Kidz Kids, and Negashi Armada. Pat Blocher mainly works with photography, be it conceptual, straight, or both.In any case, his work aim to put things into temporal and emotional perspectives. Blocher will receive his BA from UCLA in 2012. The Kids Kidz are a couple of good, golden boys who grew up on Oakland's beaches watching their Papa, a professional surfer known as Starman, throw tail and toss water in the sea. Neither Jake nor Tyrel ever entered the biting waters. Jake is allergic to the cold. Tyrel is too loyal to forget a friend on the sand. The two founded Kids Kidz Foam Planing Totems, or Kids Kidz Flot'ems, which produced high performance racing "boogie boards." The two men now live in a shed in Malibu where they are kept by their Kidnapper and S*x Master, Dr. Jeff. Phil Davis One time I was at The Smell when I was like 15 or 16 and the big hairy guy from Explogasm ran towards me and covered himself and me in this cardboard box, and he said to me, while we were inside the box, "don't try so hard."
