My child Quargs (many know her as Mya) and Essence Stiggers (David Stiggers' daughter) created an amazing cover of "Strange Fruit" (originally sung by Billie Holiday). It's great to see the next generation able to put it down like this. But, in the same breath, it's tragic that this generation is being subjected to the same brutality that has plagued this country since it's inception. We have to do better people. If this video pi**es you off, good. It should. If you think we don't have a problem with police targeting our Black and Brown citizens, you need to wake TF up. Please share. Please support. But, most importantly, keep fighting for equality for all.
“Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war. And until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the colour of a man's skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war.” - ― Haile Selassie I (popularized by the Bob Marley song, "War")
