“ULTRA FLARE” series by MASTERBUILT

The MasterBuilt “ULTRA FLARE” series combine elements and stylistic features of past MasterBuilt Lenses. While creating a more characteristic and distinctive optical representations. The “ULTRA FLARE” series are marked by painterly background separation / softer focus roll-off / brilliant flares (more pink / yellow in definition) / pastel contrast rendering. Building on the success of the “CLASSIC” / “SOFT FLARE” / “PORTRAIT” series, MasterBuilt has developed a new look with all the hallmarks of past fundamentals.

- J.COLE “TWO-SIX” - SHOT ON MASTERBUILT “SUPERSCOPE” SERIES and SONY VENICE 2 Camera Systems ————————I’ve trusted Masterbuilt lenses for the past six years, I’ve used every single series they’ve ever designed and a few prototypes too! The “SUPERSCOPE” lens series give me the best ability to shoot, balanced images with character and enough fall off to control digital sensors and high contrast film emulsions. J. COLE “TWO-SIX” called for exacting images and precise contrast (especially when looking to convert for B&W) - we were super happy with images the “SuperScope” lenses produced!

Okios - Super Bowl Commercial ( )- shot on MASTERBUILT “CLASSIC” SERIES AND MASTERBUILT ZOOMS 25-125MM T3.2 / 27-60MM T2.9 and ARRI ALEXA MINI LF CAMERA SYSTEM - The San Francisco architecture and hills are so iconic. The pastel color pallet of Telegraph Hill was a perfect paring with the natural fall off of backgrounds that come with Masterbuilt Classic series lenses. The MASTERBUILT 25-125mm Zoom was an essential lens for all our arm car / crane work - it was the perfect tool set!

SHOT ON MASTERBUILT “SOFT FLARE” SERIES AND ARRI ALEXA MINI LF CAMERA SYSTEM - Killing Faith has a fable-like quality, and director Ned Crowley and I set out to tell the story through beautiful, subtly surreal images that pay homage to the wide range of artworks depicting the American Southwest. Shot wide open on the Mini LF, these lenses created a look with soft contrast and creamy falloff, bringing a painterly quality to the film. I found myself particularly drawn to the swirling bokeh of the 50mm, which became my primary lens choice on the feature.
