Melanie Kaye PR

Melanie Kaye PR www.melaniekayepr.com I grew up in Ottawa and in order to see the bands I wanted I started booking them myself. Keep your name clean.

By the age of 15 I was doing a little bit of everything; publicity, promotion, and management. I have continued working as an independent freelance publicist specializing in the punk/ underground music scene but I love all kinds of music. My focus is more on making sure whatever I am involved with has a positive and inclusive message. Since 1999 I have been running Fat Wreck Chords Canada and have continued to develop and expand my client roster including internationally known artists, new bands, festivals, record labels from all over the world, movies, books and theatre productions. I decided when launching “Melanie Kaye PR” that the main criteria for choosing who I work with is I must genuinely love it in order to stand behind each project in an authentic way and this policy has served me and my clients well. Over the last 35 years I have developed strong relationships with a wide variety of media outlets across Canada and the world. They have come to know whoever I am working with is worthwhile and news worthy. My reputation is based on a strong work ethic and the trust that has been established that Melanie Kaye PR is not a “smoke and mirrors” business.

“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” -Mark Twain

“Build a good name. Don’t make compromises, don’t worry about making a bunch of money or being successful. Be concerned about doing good work. Protect your work and if you build a good name, eventually that name will be its own currency. Life is like a roller coaster ride, it is never going to be perfect. It is going to have perfect moments and rough spots, but it’s all worth it.” -Patti Smith

These two quotes really resonate with me.

James Hetfield of Metallica paid a visit to The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, stopping by to check out the museum ahead of the band’s upcoming shows at Sphere.

The Punk Rock Museum thepunkrockmuseum shared a photo of Hetfield posing outside the museum, thanking the Metallica frontman: “Thanks to James Hetfield from Metallica for stopping by and checking out the museum today! Who’s coming to see the Sphere shows?”

Metallica’s official account joined the conversation with a simple comment: “So THAT’S where he was!”

Hetfield has frequently cited punk acts such as the Ramones and Fear among his favorites, while Metallica have famously incorporated punk into their own music throughout their career. The band recorded several punk covers, most notably the Misfits songs “Last Caress” and “Green Hell,” which were included on their 1998 covers album Garage Inc. Metallica have also performed songs by The Ramones live over the years.

The Punk Rock Museum is proud to announce the opening of the new exhibition dedicated to Motörhead and Lemmy on Friday, October 2nd, 2026.

Motörhead was a legendary force in the rock and heavy metal scene. Led by Lemmy Kilmister, the band’s uncompromising sound and attitude earned them a devoted following across generations and around the world. While Motörhead helped define heavy metal, their roots ran just as deep in punk. Lemmy not only played bass with the Damned, but he was a fixture in the British punk rock scene. Motörhead’s intensity and speed influenced many of the greats of the next generation of punk, including Pennywise, Rancid, and Lagwagon, among many others.

Lemmy used his Rickenbacker bass to create Motörhead’s unmistakable sound through Marshall stacks. The result was a volume and intensity that became renowned; countless fans still describe Motörhead as the loudest band they ever saw, with a sound they didn’t just hear, but felt.

The exhibition will feature personal items from Lemmy’s collection, including photographs and handwritten lyrics. One of the most unique parts of the exhibition will be the opportunity for museum guests to play Lemmy’s bass through the actual stack he used.

Rather than simply looking at the equipment, visitors can plug in, pick up the bass, and experience the gear that helped create Motörhead’s unmistakable sound. It offers a rare opportunity to connect with the band’s history in a direct and personal way.

Motörhead albums will be available at Vinyl Threat, the museum’s record store, and exclusive Motörhead merchandise will be available in the museum’s gift shop.

To celebrate the opening, Three Star Punk Bar will host a special evening with Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records DJing. Guests can raise a glass to Lemmy and celebrate the music and legacy of Motörhead.
