A man of two worlds

A man of two worlds Fahim Fazli The first Afghan Born American Actor in Hollywood. A MAN OF TWO WORLDS Everyone is born with a dream, a path to follow. What's my passion?

Sometimes you allow others to guide you rather than following your instincts. Your decisions are based on necessity rather than what is in your heart, this was the case for me. I have been asked what's my dream and I said to be a successful actor and to be healthy. Cooking, acting and helping others especially children and animals, My hobbies are beach volleyball, skiing, and swimming. If you put

your mind to it you will acheive it. I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and enjoyed a privileged childhood. Throughout my youth I enjoyed going to the cinema and dreamed of becoming an actor in Hollywood. At the age of twelve everything changed. The Russians invaded Afghanistan. I supported the resistance and eventually we fled to Pakistan and then to the United States. I was not allowed to pursue my passion, acting, but instead was forced to work to support my family. Many years later, as an adult, I had the good fortune to meet someone who worked with a local production company. In our conversation, he mentioned my resemblance to Andy Garcia and also asked if I was interested in going to a casting call. It had been years since I had given any serious thought to acting but I went and got the job. I currently live in Orange County CA, and have continued working in television and movies. I I never lost sight of my dream to be an actor.

"Danny Trejo is one of Hollywood's most recognizable character actors. With his deeply lined face, powerful stare, long hair, and unmistakable tattoos, Trejo embodies toughness, resilience, and authenticity. His weathered appearance reflects a remarkable life story—from overcoming a troubled past to becoming an acclaimed actor, entrepreneur, and inspirational figure. Whether playing heroes, villains, or antiheroes, his presence commands the screen with undeniable intensity.
Fahim Fazli is one of Hollywood's most distinguished weathered-looking actors. Born in Afghanistan and shaped by a life of extraordinary experiences—including surviving war, becoming a refugee, serving alongside the U.S. Marines as a linguist, and building a successful acting career in America—his face reflects strength, wisdom, and perseverance. His rugged features, expressive eyes, and commanding presence give him an authenticity that cannot be manufactured. Whether portraying military leaders, tribal elders, diplomats, or men of honor, Fazli brings depth, dignity, and real-life experience to every role, making him one of the industry's most distinctive and believable character actors."

Sometimes I wonder how blessed I have been to build friendships with people from so many different backgrounds and professions. Over the past 42 years in America, I've been fortunate to have friends from Hollywood, the military, government, volleyball, coffee shops, my neighborhoods in Laguna Beach and Dana Point, and many other walks of life. I always keep these friendships separate and enjoy spending time with each group individually. I'm truly grateful for every one of them. It was an honor to have lunch at the Brigantine on San Diego Harbor with my beautiful partner and with Senator Timothy, my good friend and co-author Lieutenant Colonel Michael Moffett, a retired Marine Corps officer, former professor, New Hampshire State Representative, and proud Celtics fan. Moments like these remind me how fortunate I am to call California home.

My life has always been like a book. I picked up that book in 1966, the year I was born, and from the very first chapters it was filled with excitement, challenges, and unexpected turns. As a young boy, I witnessed hardship, family struggles, and the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. Some chapters were painful, some were inspiring, some were exciting, and some were difficult to read, but one thing I never did was close the book. At times I placed it on the shelf to rest, but I always came back and opened it again. Through rejection, success, heartbreak, hope, victories, and setbacks, I kept turning the pages. Today, at 60 years old, my book is still open, and many chapters remain unwritten. My message to all of you is this: your life is also a book. When you are down, do not lose hope. When you are up, stay humble. When you are happy, be grateful; when you are sad, do not make permanent decisions. Keep moving forward, keep your faith, and never close the book. You never know what blessings, opportunities, lessons, or miracles may be waiting in the next chapter. Love you all. — Fahim Fazli
