A man of two worlds

A man of two worlds Fahim Fazli The first Afghan Born American Actor in Hollywood. A MAN OF TWO WORLDS Everyone is born with a dream, a path to follow. What's my passion?

Sometimes you allow others to guide you rather than following your instincts. Your decisions are based on necessity rather than what is in your heart, this was the case for me. I have been asked what's my dream and I said to be a successful actor and to be healthy. Cooking, acting and helping others especially children and animals, My hobbies are beach volleyball, skiing, and swimming. If you put

your mind to it you will acheive it. I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and enjoyed a privileged childhood. Throughout my youth I enjoyed going to the cinema and dreamed of becoming an actor in Hollywood. At the age of twelve everything changed. The Russians invaded Afghanistan. I supported the resistance and eventually we fled to Pakistan and then to the United States. I was not allowed to pursue my passion, acting, but instead was forced to work to support my family. Many years later, as an adult, I had the good fortune to meet someone who worked with a local production company. In our conversation, he mentioned my resemblance to Andy Garcia and also asked if I was interested in going to a casting call. It had been years since I had given any serious thought to acting but I went and got the job. I currently live in Orange County CA, and have continued working in television and movies. I I never lost sight of my dream to be an actor.

Born and raised in Afghanistan, ever since I was five years old, I dreamed of one day working in Bollywood. Today, that dream has come true with my very first Bollywood film, The King, and I have the honor of working with the King of Bollywood himself, Shah Rukh Khan. I am truly grateful and humbled to be part of this journey. The film will be released on December 24, 2026, and for me, this is more than just a movie — it is a lifelong dream becoming reality.

When I first arrived in India, my hotel was right next to Shah Rukh Khan’s house. I asked the front desk where his house was, and they smiled and said, “Just walk out the door, make a right — it’s only a few steps away.” When I walked there, I was amazed. Thousands of people stood outside his home — families, children, and fans from everywhere. The entire atmosphere felt alive. I immediately understood how deeply people love and respect this man.

What touched me most was not only his legendary success, but also his kindness and humility. What a beautiful human being and what a wonderful soul he is. Coming from Afghanistan, then building my career in Hollywood, and now standing in Bollywood working beside one of the greatest stars in the world feels unbelievable.

I want people to know: never give up on your dreams. Make them happen. If I can achieve my dream at the age of 60, then you can achieve yours as well. Dreams have no expiration date. Keep believing in yourself, keep working hard, and never stop chasing your passion.

I also want to sincerely thank Shah Rukh Khan for allowing me to be part of The King and for inspiring millions of people around the world.-FahimFazli-

“Arijit Singh is one of the most beloved singers in India and around the world. He became famous for his emotional voice and unforgettable songs in Bollywood films. Some of his most popular songs include “Tum Hi Ho,” “Kesariya,” “Channa Mereya,” and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.” His music touches people deeply because it carries emotion, love, heartbreak, hope, and humanity.

Arijit Singh is also known for being humble and peaceful despite his massive fame. Many fans admire him because he lives a simple life, avoids arrogance, and focuses on music and family rather than celebrity status. He has supported charities, quietly helped people, and earned respect for his gentle personality and kind heart.

Fahim Fazli is known for a very inspiring journey. Born in Afghanistan, he became a refugee after the Soviet invasion and later built a career in Hollywood through hard work and persistence. He appeared in films and TV projects such as Superman, Iron Man, American Sniper, and 12 Strong. At the age of 60, his childhood dream finally came true when he entered the Bollywood industry in the film “King” with Shah Rukh Khan.

Fahim Fazli also made the decision to help as a peacemaker by working with the U.S. Marines as a cultural technical advisor and linguist in Afghanistan. His story is about never giving up on dreams, even after hardship, war, and displacement.

People who know Fahim Fazli often describe him as kind-hearted, respectful, humorous, and supportive of others — especially Afghans and young artists trying to follow their dreams. He speaks often about peace, unity, love, and helping others succeed instead of competing with hate or jealousy. His life message is that dreams can come true with patience, faith, and hard work.

Both Fahim Fazli and Arijit Singh represent something beautiful:

• kindness over ego
• peace over hate
• helping others instead of hurting others
• believing in dreams
• love for humanity

Their journeys show that success becomes more meaningful when a person stays humble and gives back to others with compassion, respect, and love.”

I’m very grateful when people see my heart and soul, not just the outside. This young man from Afghanistan truly made my day. Please read this beautiful message he wrote to me:

“I read this in a book, and it made me think of you.

Whenever we see someone who appreciates the simple things in life, we can feel their positive energy and kindness. These feelings are very rare, and not everyone can find them. We truly appreciate the beautiful energy you bring to everything around you.

We love you so much, and we can feel that you are a successful person, with even more success waiting for you in the future. We are very happy and proud to have you with us.

Big heart and much love, ♥️
Mohammad Sediq Mirbaz”

To all the dreamers around the world — never give up. Always have hope, visualize your dreams, manifest your future, and never be a quitter. When I was five years old in Afghanistan, I dreamed of becoming a Bollywood actor because Afghanistan and India have always shared a beautiful connection through music, food, culture, and love for cinema. I am very grateful that Afghanistan and India have had a strong friendship for centuries. In 1979, when the Russian invasion happened in Afghanistan, my family and I ended up in America. I continued to follow my dream and became an actor in Hollywood for more than three decades. Today, at 60 years old, my childhood dream has finally come true — to work in Bollywood. I am deeply grateful to Bollywood for allowing me to be part of the movie **. Never stop believing in your dreams, because dreams do come true.-FahimFazli-

Hopefully, I will leave a meaningful legacy for my beautiful daughter, Sophia. She has always been determined—she wanted to be first in school, and she achieved that. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a 4.0 GPA, summa cm laude, which made me incredibly proud.
She has also worked with me on a few movies, TV projects, and voiceovers. I was very grateful to bring her to the set of 12 Strong, where she had the chance to meet Chris Hemsworth. He was a truly kind man and took a photo with my daughter—it was a wonderful experience.
Bringing your child onto a movie set and showing them how their father works, sometimes being away for three or four months, is very special. Seeing her watch me while I was filming meant a lot to me.
I am deeply grateful to have her in my life. To me, she is the most beautiful daughter in the world.

Sometimes I wonder why people don’t love their jobs. Often, it’s because they didn’t follow their dreams. Instead, they just go along with a “normal” life and let life direct them.
I always encourage people to follow their dreams so they can truly love what they do.
When I became an actor, I knew this was my dream—this was my passion. I enjoy my work every time we’re on set. Even before the camera starts rolling, we’re having fun—taking pictures, laughing, and sharing moments together. Working with amazing actors like Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, in the movie 12 Strong and many others has been an incredible experience.
We work hard for two or three months, and during that time, we become like a family. We laugh, we support each other, and we even share those moments with our families back home. Then, when it’s time to say goodbye, we never know when we’ll work together again.
That’s why I truly appreciate that I followed my dream. I followed my passion—and because of that, I genuinely enjoy my work.

Sometimes I stop and think about how life comes full circle. When I arrived in the United States of America in 1985 from Afghanistan , it was a dream of mine to become an actor. The first movie I ever watched was The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and like so many people, I was inspired by Clint Eastwood.
Years later, I found myself working in Hollywood and sharing the screen with Bradley Cooper in Aloha. At that time, I had no idea that we would meet again on another project.
Then came American Sniper. I remember standing on the left side of the set, waiting quietly for Clint Eastwood to say “action.” In that moment, Bradley Cooper walked over, and we stepped into an intense scene—arguing over the Iraqi situation. I played a tribal leader, negotiating with him to capture the bad guy. It was a powerful moment, not just as an actor, but as someone representing a deeper story.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood. In my three decades in Hollywood, he remains the most powerful and remarkable director I have ever worked with. Moments like these remind me how far the journey can take you.

Being involved in the movie "12 Strong" was a remarkable experience, and I felt incredibly honored when I was invited to New York City for the red carpet event. Later, at the after-party, I was deeply grateful when Matt Damon approached me to thank me for my work on the film. We ended up chatting for almost two hours, during which he expressed his hope that we would work together in the future. Despite not being part of the movie, he was invited to the red carpet and after-party, and I was genuinely thankful to meet such a kind and open-hearted individual. His graciousness and warmth left a lasting impression on me.

Attention new actors and new actresses: please read this carefully. Almost more than two decades ago, I was involved with the TV show "24" in its sixth season. I was hired by a company called Central Casting as Terrorist Number Two. They informed me that a shooting scene I was part of would feature in an Emmy Awards commercial. On set, I had a face-to-face dialogue and scenes with Kiefer Sutherland, which led me to believe we were building a genuine rapport. After the scene was finished, I asked Kiefer if I could take a picture with him. Despite the director, producer, and first assistant director seeing this, no one stopped me, and Kiefer professionally obliged. However, once our scene wrapped, I was politely informed that I was done for the day. Four hours later, I received a call telling me I was fired from both the production and the casting company for my unprofessional conduct. Initially, I was very sad, but I learned that even Brad Pitt and other successful actors had similar experiences early in their careers. After doing my research, I found out that several of us who got fired went on to become established actors. I am grateful to Central Casting and the "24" production for this lesson. Since then, I have never worked as an extra again and have learned the importance of professionalism on set. I hope this lesson is helpful to new actors.
