District Idol is a solo vocal competition sponsored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, and is open to all Anaheim Union High School District students. The competition will consist of two rounds.
Round 1: each participant will be required to sing the best 1 minute and 30 seconds of a song demonstrating his/her vocal talent in front of judges. All auditions will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Oxford Academy. The top ten participants from each division will be notified via email by Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
Round 2: The top ten participants from each division will sing in front of an audience and judges. The Junior High and High School performances will be at Kennedy Performing Arts Center at Kennedy High School on February 19 and February 20 respectively.

Attention Kennedy alumni: This week, JFK kicks off its 50th Anniversary with 3 days of events for Alumni. On Thursday, September 11 from 5:30-7pm there will be an "Open House" event. We will have clubs on campus with displays, campus tours, and a social event. Then at 7pm we will be having a special event in the Performing Arts Center featuring our Performing Arts programs. On Friday, September 12, We will be having a tailgate party before the Homecoming Football Game beginning at 5:30 and then the game is at 7pm. On Saturday, September 13 we are having an alumni "dance" from 5-7pm in our gyms. There is no cost to anything except the ticket for the football game. There will be free food at both the tailgate and the dance

San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino Excursion

On Saturday, March 23 we will be taking a bus from Kennedy to San Manuel for a day of fun and to raise money to provide much needed items for the Performing Arts Center. Please join us! We will be leaving the Kennedy parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 4:30 p.m. The trip includes transportation, $10 for food/gaming, on-board continental breakfast, fun and games. The cost is only $25 per person. You must be over 21 to attend this event. Register quickly, there are only 55 seats available! For the first time ever since 2007 when we became involved with the Green Band at Kennedy, all of the 750 benefit concerts tickets have been distributed. So it is a complete sell out. Attendees will have to have a ticket to be admitted. I know some of you host families have asked if we reserve seating and we tried to our first year in 2007 reserving the 2nd section for host families. But it became apparent some host families like the 1st section better and some the balcony. Obviously some of you have extended families that received tickets and it was difficult at best for everyone to sit together. So your seating for this concert on Wednesday, January 2nd is first come, first serve. I would recommend for the immediate host family attendees, you arrive and get in line no later than 5:15pm-5:30pm to ensure you can find the best seating available. The Will Call window will be open at 5:15pm. The doors will open at 6pm. Concert starts at 6:30pm.

John F. Kennedy Instrumental Music Department presents the Green Band Benefit Concert

On January 2, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the AUHSD Performing Arts Center at John F. Kennedy High School there will be a great night of music featuring the Kennedy Jazz Band and then the exceptional All-Izumo Green Honor Band from Izumo City, Japan. Tickets are free. We anticipate a full house for the 750 seat Performing Arts Center. So if you would love to see this benefit concert, please email [email protected]. Please include your name, address and how many tickets you will need. The tickets will be mailed up to December 30, 2012. Otherwise they will be available for pick up at the will call window the night of the concert. We will be accepting donations for the Hurricane Sandy Victims. At the concert we will detail specifically which Hurricane Sandy organizations the donations will benefit. Our donation boxes will be in the lobby within the Performing Arts Center. 2nd ANNUAL "DISTRICT IDOL" A SUCCESS

The Performing Arts Foundation at Kennedy High School's Second Annual "District Idol" raised funds for the Foundation while giving the talented students in the Anaheim Union High School District an opportunity to compete in a district-wide vocal competition. This year junior high competed on Thursday night and high school competed on Friday, October 12th.

The enthusiastic crowds encouraged the vocal finalists with their cheers and applause. Three experienced judges critiqued each vocalist and selected the "Judges' Choice Award" each night. The high school finalist Imon Santos won the Judges' Choice award of $400. The Judge's Choice junior high prize was awarded to Alexys Ungria ($175) who also won the People's Choice award of $100.

Then the exciting "Peoples' Choice Award" winners were announced. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners each received cash prizes. The audience selected their finalist choices by dropping their tickets in their favorite contestant's bin.

District Idol 2012

Tickets for District Idol are available online at http://www.kpacfoundation.org/district_idol_2012.html They are $10 each for the Senior High competiton on Friday, Oct. 12 and $5 each for the Junior High Competition on Thursday, Oct. 13. Join The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Foundation for an exciting competition to determine who will be the "All District Idol" of the Anaheim Union High School District. As part of the audience, your vote will be the deciding factor at the "All District Idol" vocal competition event. Three professional judges will critique each of the 10 vocal finalists. The audience will be casting their vote for the performances of ten aspiring vocalists. The audience scores will be tabulated and the winners announced that evening. Enjoy an evening of music, young talent and competition. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners.

Alumni Band

Mr. Bob Anthony, Kennedy Band Director is retiring in June and we are forming an Alumni Band from all former Kennedy Band Members to perform a few songs at the Spring Concert on May 19. There will be rehearsals on Sunday, May 2 and Sunday, May 16 from 2 to 4pm at in the Band Room. If you were a member of the Kennedy Band (all years!) and can still play a note, please come join us.
