A Celebration of Food, Film & Italian Culture, Featuring an Exclusive Dinner with the Director and Chef Behind Italian Wannabe.

On Sunday, October 25, join us at the Barrymore for a special screening of Italian Wannabe, a moving documentary that proves food is about so much more than what’s on the plate.

The film follows Chef Bill Disselhorst, who, alongside his wife Anne, transformed a tiny South Pasadena café into one of America's Top 100 restaurants. After unimaginable loss, Bill returns to the Italian village where their culinary journey began, searching for the passion, purpose, and sense of belonging that once defined his life.

And this time, the story doesn't end when the credits roll.
Director Steve Dabal and Chef Bill Disselhorst will join us in person for an introduction and post-screening Q&A. Guests seeking the full experience can continue the evening at Goodfellas Restaurant in Garfield, NJ, for an intimate Italian dinner alongside the filmmaker and chef themselves.

Presented in partnership with Dining Out Jersey, this special event brings together the very things at the heart of the film: extraordinary food, meaningful conversation, and the connections we make around the table.

Experience the spellbinding artistry of Hiroya Tsukamoto, a Japanese-born master of fingerstyle guitar and evocative storytelling, live at the Barrymore.

Performing songs from his newest album, Rainshadow, Tsukamoto brings together intricate fingerstyle guitar, original compositions, and storytelling for an unforgettable afternoon of music. With this latest project, he focuses on crafting compelling and memorable melodies that stay with listeners long after the performance ends.

Recognized for his agile fingerpicking and soulful performances, Tsukamoto has been celebrated by Acoustic Guitar magazine for his “delicate, fluid, and beautifully detailed” style and by the Boston Herald for his ability to take listeners on an “impressionistic journey.”

A Berklee College of Music alumnus, Tsukamoto has performed at the Blue Note in New York City, on Japanese National Television (NHK), at the International Storytelling Center, and at the United Nations. He earned second place at the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in both 2018 and 2022.
