This was a fun event to capture! The energy was high and the post run smiles were addicting.
Unfortunately, the drone decided to malfunction mid first flight and it's currently pending repairs... but at least Robert caught one photo of the beautiful morning sky pre race.

This past month I revisited a hobby of mine that started my video editing journey. Editing fan videos! It's a niche thing for sure. But teen me definitely needed this. Here's my first full video edit in 10+ years that I created "just for fun."

p.s. anyone else watch this series and were instantly transformed into their adolescent emo self? Just me?

On the week we celebrate the 4th of July and our country's beginnings, I am remembering all of the recent events I've had the opportunity to help film for Charles City County. Events like this one where we honor and remember our Revolutionary War Patriots.

And of course, I can't post this without a quote to go alongside and the following seems appropriate for the day:

Meet Bluann!

Owner/Founder of BlueSalad Productions and BSP Media, she will often be found wearing one of her hats from her favorites collection (and most will be blue her favorite color).

Bluann is the filmmaker/editor and photographer for team BSP. Her favorite shots to capture include laughter and nature.

More favorites include: chai lattes, baking, dancing, and the Anne of Green Gables TV series.

Welcome to the rebrand!

If you’ve been here awhile you may know the origin of the name bluesalad. If not here’s the story…

In 2007 when I made my first YouTube account to edit fan videos of my favorite tween movies (think Pirates of the Caribbean with music by The Fray), bluesalad was my first ever account name. It was a play on my first name Bluann and my last name Saladier.

Flash forward to 2011 when I started professionally capturing and editing videos from events and I kept that name and now all these years later I’m still here!

For a while, I felt pressured to go along with the trend of using my real first and last name instead of a creative one. But I never changed it and I pressed on. Following my heart on that just felt right.

And now introducing BSP Media! We are still BlueSalad Productions. We still capture your event with photo and video, but now we are proud to also offer a simple PA system setup for your event with speakers and mics. Perfect for an outdoor ceremony that requires speeches or music to be played.

And yes our drone and drone pilot is licensed and registered with the FAA. We continue to offer drone video and photos services of events, real estate, and more.

Meet Robert!

Don’t let his serious face fool you (yes getting him to laugh and smile in photos is a challenge) but he’s a real jokester.

Robert is our licensed drone pilot who will help capture those overhead video and photo scenes. On our most recent project his favorite shot captured was of an almost 400 year old tree.

A few of his favorites include: Japanese food, tv shows like Heroes and Lost, the Lord of the Rings books and movies, and cold weather.

Honored to capture this event celebrating Stephen Bates and his descendants at this historical marker dedication ceremony at Historic Shirley in Charles City.

There couldn’t have been a more beautiful day in autumn for the ceremony. 🍁

And I was so excited to be able to visit this beautiful spot in-person. It has been on my visit list! So glad I can check it off. Stay tuned for photos and videos of a 300 year old tree 🌳 on the property.
