She thought the old well was empty.

Everyone in the village told her the same thing.

“Never look inside after sunset.”

But nobody ever told her why.

One rainy evening, she heard her name.

Not from the forest.

Not from the ruined tower.

It came from deep beneath her feet.

She leaned over the edge.

The darkness below seemed endless.

Then she heard another whisper.

Her own voice.

Calling her name.

She stepped back.

The whisper stopped.

She stepped forward.

It started again.

This time…

there were dozens of voices.

Some were crying.

Some were praying.

And one was quietly laughing.

She lowered the lantern.

The light disappeared before it reached the bottom.

Then something moved in the darkness.

Not upward.

Sideways.

As if the walls of the well were much larger than they should have been.

She looked closer.

There were doorways carved into the stone.

Hundreds of them.

And behind every doorway…

someone was watching.

She suddenly noticed something on the ground beside her.

An old journal.

Its final page contained only one sentence:

“If you hear your own voice below… do not answer.”

Then the whisper came again.

Only this time…

it wasn't coming from the well.

It was coming from behind her.

She slowly turned around.

And the lantern went out.

The next morning, they found the journal lying beside the well.

The girl was gone.

But every night since then…

the villagers hear a new voice beneath the stones.

A voice that sounds exactly like hers.

And it keeps asking the same thing…

What is hiding there?
