THE WIFE WHO STOPPED COOKING
When Amaka got married, she was the kind of wife everyone praised.
She woke up early, cooked breakfast, packed her husband's lunch, went to work, came home, cooked dinner, helped the children with their homework and still made sure her husband had everything he needed.
Whenever her friends complained about marriage, Amaka would say:
"Marriage is about sacrifice. If you love your husband, you will do your best for him."
But after 12 years of marriage, something changed.
Her husband started coming home late.
Sometimes 10pm. Sometimes midnight.
He stopped appreciating the food.
He would eat outside and come home saying, "I'm not hungry."
One evening, Amaka prepared his favourite meal and waited.
He didn't come home.
The next morning, she found out from social media that her husband had attended a dinner with some colleagues.
That was the day she stopped cooking for him.
Not because she hated him.
Not because she wanted revenge.
She simply decided:
"If you can make arrangements for yourself outside this house, I can stop exhausting myself trying to please you."
For the first few days, her husband thought she was joking.
Then he confronted her.
"What kind of wife stops cooking for her husband?"
Amaka looked at him and replied:
"The kind of wife who got tired of being taken for granted."
Her husband called her disrespectful.
Her mother-in-law called her a bad wife.
Some of her friends said, "Never stop serving your husband. That's how marriage breaks down."
But another friend told her:
"You are not your husband's housemaid. If he doesn't appreciate your effort, you have every right to stop overextending yourself."
Now the question is:
WHO IS WRONG?
Is a wife obligated to keep serving her husband regardless of how he treats her?
Is stopping household duties a legitimate way to set boundaries, or is it disrespect?
Should husbands and wives continue doing their responsibilities even when their efforts are not appreciated?
Let's debate this respectfully. 👇
TEAM AMAKA ❤️ or TEAM HUSBAND 🤔?
And please—don't just say "leave him" or "leave her." 😂
