As eleven-year-old Leonore gears up for the transformative milestone that is her first period, she embarks on a rollercoaster of self-discovery. Her mother Flore is determined to protect Leonore from her own negative experience by preparing her ahead of time. Accompanied by their family, the duo navigates the cringe-worthy and beautiful aspects of puberty, dismantling stereotypes with humour and heart. Their laughter-filled adventure transcends generational boundaries, capturing the magic of growing up.

All three films promote awareness around menstrual health education and period care by highlighting a range of related issues, and dismantling socio-cultural silence around menstruation.

For our last screening this year, we are excited to show WINGS OF DESIRE, a 🇫🇷🤝🇩🇪 co-production and cult classic from iconic German filmmaker Wim Wenders.
In Wings of Desire, Wenders deploys a stellar cast (including Bruno Ganz, Peter Falk, Solveig Dommartin and Otto Sander) in a grey, colourless world. The angels view the world in black and white while offering comfort to troubled humans. Everything changes for one of the guardian angels – Damiel — when he falls in love and longs to be human.

ABOUT THE FILM
WINGS OF DESIRE marked Wenders’ “homecoming” and was his first German film after eight years in America. The main characters are guardian angels—benevolent, invisible beings in trench coats—who listen to the thoughts of mortals and attempt to comfort them. One of them, Damiel (Bruno Ganz), wishes to become human after he falls in love with the beautiful trapeze artist Marion (Solveig Dommartin). [...] The film has achieved cult status all around the world; in 1998, it was remade under the title CITY OF ANGELS, which features Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan in the lead roles.
