WE ARE BLESSED... 🌟
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the very first launch of at Unseen Nairobi ©️ and showed such warm support for African and Kenyan cinema. 🖤
On June 17th, we officially kicked off the journey. Featuring six powerful Kenyan short films that showcased the bold styles of emerging filmmakers, followed by Rosine Mbakam’s acclaimed Cameroonian feature, Mambar Pierrette, the program led to truly inspiring conversations.
During the post-screening discussion, we dived deep into the unique storytelling, language, and audiovisual directions that define Kenyan cinema. Seeing the distinct narrative styles of all six shorts and hearing BTS was an absolute joy, which gave us a thrilling glimpse into the boundless potential and future of Kenya’s rising filmmakers.
We would like to express our deepest respect and gratitude to all the Kenyan filmmakers who submitted brilliant works and shared stories with us. A special thank you also goes out to our wonderful panelists, Wanyuru (Nyúsh) and Sagini (kenyanloser), for connecting deeply with our vision and joining the dialogue.
Since time was limited, we couldn’t cover everything we wanted to, but we promise to build on this and bring you an even deeper, more expansive conversation in our next event.
