Something I’ve loved most in the two years of working for myself is the freedom to say YES.

No pitching. No proving. No waiting on a marketing budget or a decision from someone else. If it’s £100 for a table, it comes straight out of what I earn…because it matters to me, not because it ticks a box.

Over the last couple of years I’ve sponsored multiple tables at charity balls, backed the local flower parade, donated raffle prizes for a local defibrillator, hosted a table at the Little Miracles Charity Ball, sponsored a client’s dance show and donated to a client’s marathon run! Next year I’ve also been invited to give my first careers talk at a SEND school and THAT means more to me than any pay cheque EVER could!!!!

As a mum to a neurodivergent child, SEND causes hold a particular place in my heart and I’ll always try to show up for them where I can!!! ❤️

This is one of the quieter joys of working for myself and I wanted to share it with you. No pot to justify it from. No pitch to make. Just: this matters….so I’m in 🙏🏻✅

Last year I turned down two guaranteed regular work, well paid potential clients. On paper it made NO sense.

But taking them on would’ve meant being at the mercy of someone else’s schedule….specific filming times, regular meetings, availability pretty much whenever they needed it. I went self-employed to avoid exactly that, and doing it would’ve meant becoming someone’s employee in all but name.

Earlier in my career I’d have said yes without thinking twice. Fear of turning work away, mostly. It’s taken time to actually learn how I work best…and what drains me!

I don’t fully buy into “the client is always right.” I never have. People who have worked alongside me previously, even years ago, can confirm that!!! Of course, I want people to enjoy working with me, but I also think it’s fine to back yourself when something isn’t a good fit!!! I’ve been very disappointed before when old bosses of mine haven’t necessarily agreed with that mentality (looking back I was perhaps always meant to work for myself 😂).

Still figuring a lot of this out. But I’d rather have a handful of clients who are the right fit than a full book of ones who aren’t. And I’m learning to embrace the uncertainty that lsometimes comes with holding my boundaries and trusting my gut 😬❤️ Agree or disagree? 😬

Part 3 of 3 🎥✨

And this is where the party REALLY starts to come to life! 🥂🎤

Possibly my favourite of the three videos I made as a surprise for the bride and groom from their incredible wedding day!! I’m planning to do a few shorter edits combining moments from all three videos too…but, you know, life is crazy, so they’ll get done when they get done 😂

Let’s not talk too much about me singing Whitney Houston with the live singing waiter…😂 But what an incredible surprise (even for the Bride and Groom) Eddie, our singing waiter, was!

He absolutely brought the life and soul to the party and had everyone up, singing, dancing and completely letting loose 🎤🕺

The tears were flowing, draaaaanks were consumed in the dozens, the bride even took to the stage and absolutely smashed a Nicki Minaj rap…everyone was on the karaoke vibes and the whole place just had that feeling of living life to the absolute full and enjoying every second!!!

And honestly, that was exactly what Steff and Harry wanted….a chilled, feel good party in their garden, surrounded by the people they love. And that’s exactly what they got 🫶🏻

And finally, thank you SO much for all the lovely comments, likes and support on the first two videos. It genuinely means a lot ❤️

You guys asked for it, so here it is…🥹✨

Part two of the absolutely wonderful Steff and Harry’s wedding day! 💍🤍

There are actually three parts to this….and judging by how much you all loved part one and how many of you asked to see part two…I think it’s pretty likely I’ll be sharing part three too 😂👀 That’s where things start to get a little bit messy! 🍹😂

Honestly, their whole day was just beautiful. Steff and Harry genuinely thought of everything. The food was unreal, the drinks were flowing, the music was amazing, the weather was perfect (thank you weather gods!!!) and they even had creative things for the kids to do….which made it such a relaxed and chilled day for everyone 🫶🏻 The whole day just had that lovely summer, feel good vibe with all their nearest and dearest 🥹🤍

And can we just take a moment for their incredible garden and home?! If you’re looking for recommendations for any of the amazing people and suppliers they had involved in creating their day, definitely give Steff and Harry a shout!

Since sharing part one, I’ve actually had a few messages asking for quotes for wedding videos 🥹🤭It’s not something I’ve previously offered as part of my services, but after the lovely response and people reaching out this week…I’m definitely planning on introducing it! 🥹 I’m so flattered that people have reached out and considered me to film such a special day for them 🤍

It’s ‘cringe’ until…

* you sell out your first launch

* you fill that brand new service in a matter of days!

* someone recommends you for work because they saw one of your posts (the best one imo) 🙏🏼

* your dream client says, “I’ve been following you for ages”

* you lose a longstanding client…but you’re not panicking because there are always enquiries coming in

* you take the whole of Christmas off and don’t have to worry about making the money back 👏🏼

* you book an extra holiday with your family because your business had its best year yet

* you get an enquiry from a post you forgot you even made

* you raise your prices…and people still say yes!

* you realise people know exactly what you do before they ever speak to you

You look back at the videos you once felt ridiculous making…and realise they helped build the business that gave you all of THIS 😍✌🏼

It’s only ‘cringe’ until it starts changing your life! Keep going and keep posting guys, it gets pretty good on the other side of ‘cringe’.
