PART 2 ✌🏼

I’ve had A LOT of jobs in my time…and in truth, I’ve been a bit crap at parts of all of them 😂

But I genuinely think every single job teaches you something. Even the ones that don’t end up being “your thing”. Even the ones you outgrow. Even the ones that make you realise exactly what you DON’T want!

Every role I’ve had has given me a skill or experience I use now, in my own business, every single day.

The law firm taught me about real pressure and target driven environments (see Part 1)! Nightclub work proved to me how much energy and confidence I had, plus how to connect with people quickly, even when they’re drunk 😂 Side Note: Drunk people will buy anything 😂😂😂 Working in a school taught me the skill of organising large scale events. And my retail jobs taught me the importance of the client experience and how important it is to make people feel comfortable and heard.

And equally…the bits I wasn’t good at taught me just as much too!

They taught me I’m not built for overly repetitive work. I’m not naturally super “Type A”. I don’t thrive in really corporate environments. In fact, I really dislike them. I need creativity, variety, freedom and people around me like I need oxygen! Genuinely.

I think as you get older, you stop seeing past jobs as random detours and start seeing how they all slowly pushed you towards the life and work that actually suits you 🙏🏻

So if you too feel like you’ve had what feels like 73636 jobs, changed direction too many times or still haven’t fully figured it out yet…that’s completely normal and also totally fine!

You’re probably learning more about yourself than you realise 👀

My posting on this page may have slowed down a little lately…but behind the scenes, my workload and client results certainly haven’t 👀✨

This lovely review was left by a client I worked with for just shy of a year and it’s been an absolute pleasure supporting their business growth through social media.

When we started out, social media marketing was fairly new territory for them. Like many business owners, they initially focused on follower numbers, but very quickly saw that social media success is about far more than vanity metrics.

Within the first month alone, they gained new clients directly through the social posts I’d created for them and that continued throughout our time working together 🙌🏻

The best client relationships are always built on trust, communication and allowing strategy to lead the way. This client gave me the freedom to truly understand their business and create content that delivered real results.

As a small business owner myself, I completely understand that budgets and priorities evolve. Some clients work with me long term (several of my clients are about to hit the two year mark!) some dip in and out when needed and others use one off services. I genuinely value every single one. My time with this client has come to an end (for now) and I wish them all the success for the future 😍😊

If you’re looking for social media support that focuses on business growth and brand awareness, not just follower counts, I’d love to help 🩵🩷🧡

I got an enquiry recently off the back of a reel where I literally listed things I DON’T do as a business owner…things that aren’t “polished” or typical!

And that’s exactly why they reached out 👀🙏🏻

Because the more I’ve leant into being myself and what I bring to the table, the more I’ve attracted my IDEAL client 🙏🏻

Your best marketing? Your USP…(unique selling point in marketing lingo)? It’s YOU.

I know everyone says it, but they say it because it’s true. When so many people offer similar services, at similar prices and share similar ideas…YOU are the only thing that can’t be replicated.

- People can copy your ideas or your product
- They can try to mirror your content or offers
- They can even dress and act like you

But they can’t BE YOU!

So, the best way to market your business and find the clients meant for you, is to show yourself. Fully. Flaws included. And own it.

And yep, that does require a bit of bravery. Letting go of who you thought you had to be when you started, and actually showing people who you are.

But it doesn’t mean jumping straight into full on talking videos if that’s not your thing.

Start small:

– a selfie
– even a half-face selfie 😂
– a voiceover
– a little glimpse into the BTS of your world

Just something that lets people start to see you. Because that’s how you build trust. That’s how you find your people.

Side note…stop obsessing over likes. They’re a vanity metric.

Some people liking your posts don’t even genuinely like you, they just want their handle to be visible. Meanwhile, there are people quietly watching you…probably not liking, maybe they’re not commenting…but they’re certainly paying attention. Just like this fab lady who reached out after seeing my reel!

So this is your sign to be yourself. Show up as you and the right people will find you. And the ones who are meant to be with you on your journey? They’ve probably been watching all along 👀❤️

A dormant social media account says more than you think.

And to be clear, I’m not saying never take a break. Life happens, mental health matters and sometimes socials need to take a back seat. I’ve done it myself.

But there’s a big difference between taking a 3–4 week break because you need to and leaving your socials dormant for months because you haven’t made the time or don’t value the investment.

Like it or not, people make assumptions.

If someone lands on your page and you haven’t posted in 6 months, they may assume you’re not active or not in business 👀

Meanwhile, your competitors are showing up…and that lead that could have been yours often goes elsewhere.

This isn’t about posting no matter what. It’s about being aware of what not posting can cost you.

Remember. Visibility increases opportunity.

Fridays can go one of two ways.

You're at home, half working, half distracted, wondering where the day suddenly went!

Or you're somewhere that actually helps you focus - good people around you, lunch sorted, and you leave feeling like you did something with your day!

We've still got spaces left on Friday 24 April for exactly the second kind of day!

And the bonus? Kym and Chelsea will be on site that day too! Which means if you've been wanting a sounding board for your business, wondering what SOS is all about, or you just want to pick our brains over lunch... this is a pretty good opportunity to do exactly that!

No agenda. No hard sell. Just two people who love helping small businesses!

£25. 9am - 4pm. Lunch included. No awkward networking - just a small group of people getting stuff done together.

If you've been thinking about it, this is your nudge!

Book at www.socialstudiospace.co.uk or drop us a message and we'll get you booked in!

I’ve had a LOT of jobs in my time…and I’ve been pretty crap at parts of all of them 😅 whilst a lot of my friends held down jobs for over a decade, my average was around two years per job once I left uni (aside from one business where I worked for 8 years, but even that was in two stints)…another classic ADHD symptom at play 🤪😂

BUT every single one has led me to THIS. This business that I built.

And that’s the bit people shy away from talking about or maybe feel a little ashamed to admit. We don’t all just wake up one day and know what our “thing” is. You figure it out by doing things, hating parts of them, really enjoying other parts…and slowly realising what actually suits you, your skill set and your personality.

Something I’ve learnt along the way? There is ALWAYS time to pivot. Always time to change your mind. And If you haven’t found your thing yet, that’s also fine!!! Age is just a number and what we ‘should’ have achieved by a certain age, is just an expectation society has created and placed upon us. But the older you get (certainly in my case) I’m a bit over society and playing by ‘the rules’. F**k society’s expectations, life is hard enough!

The truth is, the older I’ve got and the more confident I’ve become in who I actually am…the more things started to click. That’s life experience for you!

Now, I don’t try and force myself into roles that don’t suit me. I know what I’m good at, I know what I’m not (and I could tell you that before you can tell me yourself, trust me) and I’ve built my business (plural these days actually, as I know run a second one too, I think that’s a bit of a flex 🙌🏻) around that.

Part 2 coming…because yes, there are plenty more jobs 👀 and I’d LOVE to know which jobs you were also crap at, so I’m not left alone out here 😂

I know… the hook felt a bit cringe 😅 Maybe even a little bit “ugh, really?”

But you stopped didn’t you. You read it. And now you’re here.

That’s the point.

A hook isn’t meant to be safe, it’s meant to get attention so people actually stick around long enough to hear what you’ve got to say. Because without that? The best message, product, or service means nothing if no one sees it.

And here’s the truth…
No one built a successful business by staying quiet, playing small, or being afraid to show up‼️👀

If you don’t position yourself as the expert, someone else will. And it won’t matter if you’re better than them, the visible ones will get most of the work.

I know this because I’ve lived it.

I launched my business off the back of a social media side hustle and I was fully booked more or less from the start. I’ve been lucky enough to be in that position pretty much ever since (if anything, I’ve had to pull back and reduce my hours) and that didn’t come from business cards, or print ads…

It came from showing up. Consistently. On social media. Building relationships. Sharing value. Letting people get to know me, not just what I offer.

Because social media done right isn’t about perfectly polished posts anymore. It’s about being REAL. Being visible. Letting people connect with the person behind the business.

That’s what builds trust. That’s what makes people think of you when they’re ready to buy.

My advice? Take social media seriously…or someone else will, and they’ll take your spot. And if you don’t want to do it yourself….that’s exactly where I come in 👋
