What a fantastic day hosting the Gate to Gate Introduction to Film Handling & Projection course, here at Slindon Cinema! Thanks so much to everyone who joined us, it was great to see everyones passion and knowledge around celluloid, and give people the opportunity to get hands on with the fundamentals of 35mm & 16mm film projection in a working cinema.

Ever wanted to get hands on with 35mm and 16mm film projection?

Join us at Slindon Cinema for the Gate to Gate Introduction to Film Handling & Projection Course, a practical one-day workshop taught by experienced cinema and film industry professionals.

You'll learn:
• Safe film handling and inspection
• Film splicing and repair
• Preparing and lacing 16mm and 35mm projectors
• The complete journey from film can to cinema screen
• Best practice for analogue film projection

Course information:
• Saturday 15th August or Sunday 16th August
• 10:00am to 5:00pm
• £150 per person
• Lunch and refreshments included
• Maximum of 8 participants per day to ensure plenty of hands-on experience
• Optional return transport from Barnham railway station can be added when booking

Whether you're a complete beginner, an aspiring projectionist, filmmaker or simply fascinated by analogue cinema, this course is the perfect introduction to the world of film projection.

What a truly unforgettable weekend, holding our first Film in the Field Festival at Slindon Cinema, screening Casablanca, The Railway Children and Cinema Paradiso on beautiful 35mm film under the stars! ❤

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend, it was absolutely amazing to see so many people supporting a local independent cinema, but also supporting film screenings from celluloid!

A special thanks too, to our amazing team of volunteers who kept the show running smoothly behind the scenes, and to our friends Darren and Ruby from for making outdoor 35mm film projection possible... you guys are legends! ❤🎞📽

We are so excited to be 2 weeks away from our first ever Film in the Field Festival, screening three nights of classics on 35mm celluloid film, under the stars here in Slindon, West Sussex!

Opening with Casablanca Friday night, The Railway Children Saturday night and finally ending with the glorious Cinema Paradiso Sunday night, a weekend not to be missed!

A BBQ, bar and ice-creams will be on sale before and during the shows, doors open at 7:30pm for a film start between 8:30-9:00pm.

Our friends and colleagues at the legendary Cinema Museum in London have finally been given the opportunity to buy their lease and secure their future. However, they urgently need to raise the funds in the next 80 days in order to do so.

For those who don't know, The Cinema Museum is NOT a normal museum. It is a group of incredible volunteers who preserve and maintain a vast array of cinema equipment, historical artefacts and thousands of irreplaceable film prints, dating from the silent era all the way through to the present day. From within a grand old Victorian workhouse in Kennington, it is safe to say there is nowhere like The Cinema Museum anywhere in the world!

Losing The Cinema Museum would not only be a colossal loss for the historical preservation of cinema heritage here in the UK, but also for countless venues like us that still screen films on celluloid, as the Museum provides access to a collection of film prints that aren't available through regular distributors and archives.

Any support, whether large or small, would make the world of difference to The Cinema Museum, as time is running out to save one of the UK's last bastions of cinema and film history!
