Serial killer Ted Ramirez terrorises a couple on a dark, creepy night.

Directed by Kieran Johnston.

Director spotlight:
Kieran Johnston is a filmmaker based in Milton Keynes, UK. Working full-time in retail, he builds his films at night, often drawing character ideas and story sparks from everyday life on the shop floor. His 2022 short horror film The Curse of Dexter was selected by Sarah of Horror Film Festival and nominated for Best Monster. Next on his wish list: a feature influenced by Se7en and Zodiac.

Raised on comic books and cult cinema, Zak has built a reputation for sharp storytelling and a collaborative approach to filmmaking. His work has earned festival selections and awards across the UK and beyond, including recognition at the British Short Film Awards, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, and more. Most recently, Zak directed Doppelgänger as part of the BBC Writers Long Story Short scheme, with the film set to arrive on BBC iPlayer in early 2026.

“Come in. The water’s lovely. You really ought to learn to swim. I won’t let go of you.”

In this supershort animation, a woman gently encourages a young girl into the river for a swimming lesson. A version with custom-made subtitles is available.

Director: Cally Trench
Cally is an artist working across animation films, board games, artist’s books, and drawing, with an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London.

Director statement (in brief): Cally creates very short animations with natural or mechanical sound she makes herself, often starting from drawings, paintings, linocut prints, or sequences of photographs, and exploring the simple wonder of movement created by images passing our eyes.
