SSEES Centenary Film Festival

SSEES Centenary Film Festival To celebrate 100 years since its founding, UCL SSEES is organizing a season of films to showcase East European cinema during the last 100 years.

The festival features twenty-three films from the countries whose languages are taught as part of SSEES undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. They are being screened with English-language subtitles from October 12th to December 17th in the new auditorium at UCL’s Bloomsbury Theatre. Each film is being introduced by an academic specialist who will place the film in question in its cultu

ral, historical, and cinematic context. The festival is being supported by the British Film Institute and several of the embassies/cultural institutes whose national cinemas are being showcased as part of the festival. The tickets to the screenings are free and can be booked via the Bloomsbury Theatre website.
